What Are Remote Jobs in EdTech?

Educational technology, which is known as EdTech for short, involves developing programs and technology tools that assist teachers in the classroom. Remote EdTech specialists build tech tools for use in a school setting, such as smart whiteboards and projector technology. You can also help teachers implement existing technology in their classroom to achieve specific educational goals. Your duties include communicating with teachers and curriculum designers to assess their needs and develop or suggest solutions. Instead of instructional software, some education technologists work on systems that measure performance or student psychology. This is a wide field, and you can find many different careers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Edtech Professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Edtech Professional, you need expertise in instructional design, educational technology, and digital pedagogy, often supported by a degree in education or instructional technology. Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) like Canvas or Moodle, and proficiency in tools such as Zoom, Google Workspace, or content creation software, are typically required. Strong communication, self-motivation, and adaptability are crucial soft skills for engaging learners and collaborating virtually. These skills ensure effective online learning experiences, seamless technology integration, and successful remote teamwork.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in remote Edtech roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in remote Edtech roles often encounter challenges such as maintaining effective communication with dispersed teams, adapting to various digital tools, and ensuring student engagement in a virtual environment. Addressing these challenges involves proactively using collaborative platforms, setting clear expectations, and participating in regular virtual meetings. Additionally, continuously updating technical skills and leveraging online resources can help overcome obstacles and ensure successful remote collaboration.

What is a Remote Edtech job?

A Remote Edtech job involves working in the education technology sector from a remote location, rather than a traditional office or school setting. These roles can include positions such as online curriculum developers, virtual instructors, instructional designers, education software engineers, and customer support specialists for Edtech platforms. Professionals in this field use digital tools and platforms to create, deliver, or support educational products and services. Remote Edtech jobs offer flexibility and the opportunity to work with innovative technologies that enhance learning experiences for students and educators around the world.

Job description

About Inspira Education

Inspira Education Group is one of the fastest-growing edtech startups in the US. We started with a simple mission to democratize access to high-quality coaching so that every student in the world has an equal opportunity to access the best opportunities.

As the world's leading network of top admissions coaches in medical, legal, business, and college studies, we're building software and services in one place—disrupting long-entrenched application processes with products and experiences that strive to provide an equal platform for candidates from diverse backgrounds worldwide.

As one of the fastest-growing edtech firms in the world, we are backed by some of the leading venture capital firms and investors in the world, including Zeev Ventures, Quiet Capital, Craft Ventures and Jeff Fluhr (Founder of Stubhub).

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Medical School Admissions Consultant who is an experienced physician with a deep understanding of the medical school admissions process. If you're passionate about mentoring and guiding future physicians through medical school applications, this could be the perfect fit. In this role, you'll work closely with students to build medical school application strategies, refine their personal statements, prepare for medical school interviews, and support them in choosing the right medical schools and programs. You'll be a trusted coach throughout the med school admissions process, helping students present their strongest selves and gain admission to their top-choice medical schools. This is a part-time, remote, 1099 contract role that can be based anywhere in the United States or Canada.

Responsibilities
  • Work with prospective medical school candidates, helping them identify opportunities to build their profile and draft compelling medical school application documents
  • Manage relationships with applicants and families while providing strategic and tactical guidance on medical school selection, essays, resumes, recommendations, interviews, and the overall medical school admissions process
  • Identify optimal medical programs and medical schools for individual students; provide feedback and guidance to students regarding their research on university programs and relevant admissions resources, finding alignment with the student's background and goals
  • Support students with project planning, application timeline management, and progress tracking through internal organizational tools
  • Stay up to date on the medical school admissions process and programs to advise prospective and existing clients on appropriate school selection and the nuances of applying to medical school
Qualifications
  • Admissions Committee Experience: Have served on a medical school admissions committee or admissions board with experience reviewing applications and making acceptance and rejection decisions, providing insights into the medical school selection process
  • Completed an MD or DO degree
  • 5–7 years of experience in education, coaching, tutoring, and/or medical school admissions consulting
  • A passion for coaching
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Strong English reading, writing, and editing skills, particularly for medical school essays and personal statements
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Expertise in project management and applicant tracking
