Job description

Content Writer and Editorial Strategist - Content for AI Visibility
Location: Remote, USA
Reports to: PR Operations Manager or Head of Editorial
Companies supported: Zen Media + Optimum7 (Sister Companies)

About Us

Zen Media is the B2B PR and AI visibility agency helping enterprise software, healthcare technology, professional services, manufacturing, and eCommerce brands achieve measurable growth and industry leadership. By combining strategic content, earned media, social amplification, and our category-defining Published Monthly AI visibility system, we influence discerning buyers, shorten sales cycles, and drive ROI. Our work has been featured in Forbes, Fast Company, Ad Age, and The Wall Street Journal.

Optimum7 is our sister company, a technology and performance marketing partner powering eCommerce, custom development, and AI platform work (including ZAVI, our AI visibility platform). Content across both brands is routed through a single PR Manager function, ensuring voice, quality, and strategic alignment across two sister companies with overlapping clients and adjacent audiences.

About the Role

We're looking for a strategic, detail-oriented, and highly creative Content Writer / Strategist who can create content engineered for AI visibility - shaping how AI systems perceive, describe, and cite our clients' brands.

The work spans three lanes:

  • AI Notices - wire-distributed content written for AI systems (not reporters), designed to drive citation and authority.
  • Owned content - service pages, pillar pages, and blog posts structured to rank in Google and be cited by LLMs.
  • Editorial support - ghostwriting, feature articles, thought leadership, and bylined placements in news and trade publications.

You'll report to a PR Operations Manager coordinating content across Zen Media and Optimum7. You'll work closely with PR, SEO, and AI teams to ensure every asset drives business outcomes. This is a craft-heavy role requiring strong writing for both SEO (Google discovery) and GEO (AI citability), with proven editorial-quality work.

What You'll Do

  • Write AI Notices using Published Monthly formats (Editorial / Feature, Listicle, Comparison, FAQ as Feature, Owned Content Style) distributed via GlobeNewswire to drive AI citation and authority.
  • Write owned content: service pages, pillar pages, blogs, and conversion copy optimized for Google and LLMs.
  • Produce editorial support: ghostwriting, thought leadership, and bylined placements for trade publications.
  • Write for both SEO and AI citability using structured, extractable, factually sound content.
  • Collaborate under the PR Manager across Zen Media and Optimum7 with PR, SEO, social, and design teams.
  • Translate complex B2B topics into clear, buyer-centric messaging.
  • Conduct research on trends, competitors, and audiences to inform positioning.
  • Optimize content for SEO, AI citability, conversion, and engagement.
  • Manage content calendars and deadlines across multiple clients and brands.
  • Analyze performance using SEO metrics and AI visibility signals (Answer Share, LLM citation coverage).
  • Maintain brand voice consistency across all client work.

What You Bring

  • At least 5 published editorial examples on real news or trade publications (required). Ghostwritten work accepted if verifiable.
  • 3-5 years of experience in content writing, copywriting, or strategy in B2B, agency, or SaaS environments.
  • Portfolio covering AI Notices, owned content, and editorial/thought leadership.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills in English with structural writing ability (H1/H2/H3, scannable, schema-aware).
  • Ability to simplify complex industries into clear messaging.
  • SEO fluency and strong interest in AI citability / GEO.
  • Strong research discipline and fact-checking accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects across two brands in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working under a PR Manager and incorporating feedback.
  • Self-motivated and remote-ready.

Preferred Experience

  • B2B marketing, PR, or performance marketing agency/newsroom experience
  • Strong editing skills with minimal revision cycles
  • Experience in large-scale content campaigns or content at scale
  • Familiarity with AI visibility, GEO, Answer Share metrics
  • Byline writing for DA 60+ trade publications
  • AP Style knowledge
  • Cross-functional collaboration (PR, SEO, design, social)
  • Tools: SEMrush, Ahrefs, Google Analytics, CMS platforms

What We Value

  • Commitment to Excellence
  • Problem-Solving Orientation
  • Innovative Mindset (AI-first content evolution)
  • Team-Centric Attitude ("zero drama")
  • Growth Minded
  • Purpose-Driven

Why Join Zen Media + Optimum7

  • 100% remote role
  • Competitive base salary
  • Work across two sister companies under one PR Manager
  • Access to AI-powered tech stack including ZAVI
  • Opportunity to build rare AI-citation content expertise
  • Growth opportunities in a fast-scaling company
  • Culture of excellence, integrity, and innovation
