We’re looking for a skilled and passionate freelance news writer to join MovieWeb’s growing editorial team in a new self-publishing role dedicated to Pacific Standard Time coverage. This is a fast-paced position ideal for someone who thrives on breaking entertainment news as it happens, with a focus on delivering timely, accurate, and engaging stories in the movie and television space. You’ll play a key role in keeping our audience informed during crucial evening hours, ensuring we never miss a beat in the 24/7 entertainment news cycle

Your Responsibilities

  • Self-publish news articles daily across movie and television verticals
  • Monitor trending news cycles, including casting announcements, trailers, release dates, renewals/cancellations, and celebrity updates
  • Ensure timely publication of relevant content aligned with SEO and engagement goals
  • Coordinate with editors and fellow writers to maintain consistent daily coverage
  • Contribute to news ideation, sourcing, and scheduling
  • Follow editorial and formatting guidelines rigorously
  • Available weekday mornings, ideally 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. EST (weekend availability is a plus)
  • Available during Pacific Standard Time evening hours for breaking news and coverage needs (weekday availability required; weekend availability is a plus)
