What is a Remote Durability Engineer?

A Remote Durability Engineer is a professional who evaluates and improves the lifespan and reliability of products, structures, or materials from a remote location. They use digital tools and software to simulate real-world conditions and analyze how components will perform over time, often collaborating with on-site teams or clients virtually. Their work helps ensure products meet safety and quality standards while reducing the need for physical prototypes or in-person inspections. This role is common in industries like automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing, where durability is critical to product success.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Durability Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Durability Engineer, you need a solid background in mechanical or materials engineering, experience with durability analysis, and a relevant engineering degree. Familiarity with simulation tools like ANSYS, Abaqus, or NASTRAN, as well as proficiency in CAD software and data analysis platforms, is typically required. Strong problem-solving, self-motivation, and effective virtual communication skills help you excel in a remote, collaborative environment. These competencies are essential for accurately predicting product lifespan, preventing failures, and ensuring project success while working remotely.

How does a Remote Durability Engineer typically collaborate with on-site teams to assess and resolve durability issues?

As a Remote Durability Engineer, you regularly collaborate with on-site teams through virtual meetings, real-time data sharing, and digital reporting tools. You may analyze test data remotely, review failure reports, and provide recommendations for design improvements. Close communication with manufacturing, testing, and quality assurance teams is essential to ensure that durability concerns are addressed promptly and accurately. Building strong remote relationships and utilizing collaborative platforms are key to overcoming the challenges of not being physically present at test sites.

Job description

Senior Software Engineer (Backend)
Location: US
Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
Level: Senior Individual Contributor
Team: Engineering
Reports to: Director of Engineering
Company
Terzo builds an AI-native enterprise data platform designed to power the commercial and financial operating system of modern companies. The platform transforms complex, unstructured enterprise data into structured, actionable intelligence used directly in operational and financial decision-making. Terzo sits at the intersection of data platforms, AI systems, and enterprise software, focusing on real production use cases rather than demos or point solutions.
The platform is built to handle enterprise-scale complexity. Terzo ingests and normalizes data from fragmented systems and documents, applies advanced AI to extract meaning, and delivers reliable, secure, and scalable capabilities customers depend on every day. Architectural decisions prioritize durability, correctness, and long-term evolution, creating a foundation capable of supporting a multi-layer AI platform over time.
Culture at Terzo centers on ownership, momentum, and craftsmanship. Engineers operate with real autonomy, take responsibility for end-to-end systems, and collaborate closely across disciplines. The team values high standards, direct communication, and continuous learning, attracting builders who want meaningful impact while helping shape the future of an ambitious enterprise AI platform.
Opportunity
Terzo is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to build and own the core platform foundation and product experiences powering Terzo's vision. This role will lead the delivery of our AI Intelligence Platform, the Terzo Commercial Graph, and AI Platform APIs all designed to power critical enterprise intelligence. The opportunity is for builders seeking end-to-end ownership, from platform foundation through customer-facing experiences, while shaping the long-term architecture of an enterprise AI platform.
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Design and implement core services spanning platform APIs, data models, and application layers
  • Build and evolve the Terzo commercial graph, including entities, relationships, metrics, and signals
  • Own platform foundations supporting analytics, workflows, AI agents, and marketplace experiences
  • Develop scalable backend systems supporting high-volume, multi-source enterprise data
  • Collaborate closely with product, design, and AI partners to deliver cohesive AI platform capabilities
  • Establish engineering standards and frameworks around reliability, performance, security, and maintainability

Success Criteria
Core Backend Engineering Experience
  • 5+ years of experience designing and building backend systems or developer platforms in distributed, cloud-native environments.
  • Experience building or scaling data platforms, backend systems, or core infrastructure
  • Experience designing APIs for critical services processing highly sensitive data.
  • Solid understanding of relational and non-relational data stores, data modeling, and performance optimization
  • Strong backend development experience in Go or Python

Ways of Working
  • High ownership mentality with comfort making architectural decisions
  • Strong product intuition paired with disciplined engineering judgment
  • Comfort operating in environments with evolving requirements and incomplete information
  • Clear communication skills across engineering, product, and business stakeholders

Nice to Have
  • Experience building AI-driven or machine learning-enabled platforms
  • Prior work on B2B SaaS, enterprise data platforms, or financial systems
  • Experience operating production systems on AWS, Azure.
  • Exposure to distributed systems, workflow engines, or streaming technologies

Why Join Terzo
  • Opportunity to build and own a foundational enterprise data platform
  • High-impact role with real influence on architecture and technical direction
  • Complex problems involving data, AI, scale, and enterprise customers
  • Small, senior team with strong ownership and minimal bureaucracy
  • Clear runway for technical and leadership growth as the platform scales

Benefits & Perks
  • Competitive salary, annual performance bonus & employee stock option plan
  • 100% paid medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) with employer contribution
  • Generous vacation and sick leave
  • Flexible work arrangements
  • High-quality equipment for home and office
  • Strong culture of collaboration, mentorship, and continuous improvement
