Position Overview
Crown Innovations is seeking a detail-oriented AutoCAD Drafter to support the FAA FOTS Program, specifically within the Airport Cable Loop (ACL) initiative. This role focuses on translating field-collected geospatial survey data into accurate AutoCAD drawings and KML files used to support critical airport communications infrastructure.
The successful candidate will work closely with the field survey team to process GPS coordinate data and produce detailed AutoCAD drawings that support the installation and documentation of airport cable infrastructure.
This position requires strong AutoCAD drafting skills combined with experience integrating geospatial data, interpreting survey information, and maintaining precise engineering documentation standards.
Key Responsibilities
Geospatial Data Integration & Drafting
โข Receive and process GPS coordinate data provided by the field survey team (typically from Trimble TerraFlex)
โข Plot and georeference manhole locations and infrastructure data within AutoCAD
โข Develop or refine airport base maps using available imagery, airport layouts, or survey information
โข Ensure accurate coordinate system alignment and geospatial referencing
Infrastructure Drawing Development
โข Produce detailed AutoCAD drawings illustrating manhole structures and cable routing
โข Document interior manhole structures including walls and relevant infrastructure components
โข Illustrate existing and proposed cable routing within manholes
โข Integrate structural or utility details provided by the field survey team
Data & File Generation
โข Generate KML files from AutoCAD drawings for visualization within Google Earth or Google Maps
โข Maintain accurate spatial data and associated infrastructure documentation
โข Perform quality control checks to ensure drawing accuracy and completeness
โข Maintain organized CAD drawing files in accordance with project standards
Collaboration & Project Coordination
โข Collaborate with the survey team to clarify GPS data points and field conditions
โข Interpret field notes, survey documentation, and photographs provided by survey teams
โข Maintain drawing standards aligned with FAA infrastructure project requirements
โข Support project timelines by producing accurate deliverables on schedule
Minimum Required Qualifications
โข Associate degree or two-year technical certificate in Drafting, GIS, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field
โข Minimum two (2) years of professional drafting experience
โข Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD (AutoCAD Map 3D or Civil 3D preferred)
โข Experience importing and plotting GPS coordinate data from survey files (CSV, TXT, etc.)
โข Working knowledge of geospatial coordinate systems such as UTM, State Plane, and WGS84
โข Experience georeferencing drawings within AutoCAD
โข Ability to interpret survey data, field notes, and supporting documentation
โข Strong attention to detail and drafting accuracy
โข Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines
โข Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with field teams
Preferred Qualifications
โข Experience working on airport infrastructure, utility mapping, or civil infrastructure projects
โข Familiarity with Trimble TerraFlex or Trimble Business Center (TBC) data formats
โข Experience producing KML files for Google Earth or geospatial visualization tools
โข Familiarity with FAA drafting standards or federally regulated infrastructure projects
โข Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, GIS, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field
Work Environment
โข Position based in Ontario, California
โข Work performed in a collaborative engineering and drafting environment
โข Occasional coordination with remote field teams supporting airport infrastructure projects
Compensation
Hourly Rate Range: $34.62 โ $40.00 per hour (W2)
Compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and internal equity considerations.
Crown complies with all applicable state and local pay transparency laws. The listed compensation range represents the good faith salary range for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, geographic considerations, and business needs.
