Summary
Redwire Space is a rapidly growing aerospace and defense company advancing new satellite and space systems. We are expanding our presence in the Los Angeles and El Segundo defensespace corridor and are seeking a driven, strategically minded Business Development Manager. This role is ideal for a professional who thrives on building relationships, identifying highvalue opportunities, and shaping pursuits across Space Systems Command (SSC) and major Primes. This is a highvisibility, highimpact role for someone who wants to move fast, compete hard, and meaningfully shape how Redwire Space pursues and wins business as a team. This position will be located remotely working in the Los Angeles/El Segundo area of CA with regular national travel.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Own the full frontend business development lifecycle in the LA/El Segundo market-including new opportunity identification, early qualification, and opportunity shaping.
  • Build and expand relationships across Space Systems Command (SSC), including SPOs, program offices, contracting teams, supply chain leaders, and other key influencers.
  • Represent a broad set of technologies including GEO Dynamic Space Operations spacecraft, Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) spacecraft, & supporting products such as launch interfaces, deployable antennas/structures, & power solutions
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with major Primes in the region (e.g., Northrop Grumman, Boeing/ Millenium Space Systems, Lockheed Martin, RTX, and emerging space players - Anduril, etc).
  • Maintain a forward-looking understanding of SSC and Prime contractor roadmaps, acquisition strategies, and longterm technology priorities.
  • Drive the pipeline by sourcing new programs, contract vehicles, and technology insertion opportunities aligned with company capabilities.
  • Lead gatereviews for early-stage pursuits and support development of capture strategies.
  • Provide intel on competitive landscape, customer hot buttons, and teaming opportunities.
  • Represent the company at key industry events, forums, and customer engagements locally and nationally.
  • Work closely with Capture, Engineering, and Executive Leadership to ensure opportunities are aligned with strategic priorities and executable.
  • Partner with internal engineering and program teams to align product roadmaps with customer needs; serving as the Voice of Customer expert.
Ideal Qualifications:
  • Bachelor/s Degree or higher, preferably in a technical, business, or strategic discipline
  • 16+ years (14+ years with a Master's degree) of experience in a Business Development or similar position, preferably as a hunter - growing the business
  • 5+ years of experience in space systems, defense acquisition, or aerospace business development; 10+ preferred
  • Direct experience engaging with Space Systems Command (SSC), particularly in LA / El Segundo.
  • Strong existing network across SSC decision-makers and regional Primes.
  • Successful track record of identifying and qualifying opportunities >$10M total contract value.
  • Familiarity with DoW and USSF acquisition processes, FAR/DFARS, and industry BD pipelines.
  • Active Secret clearance required; TS/SCI strongly preferred
  • Exceptional communication, briefing, and technical storytelling skills
Desired Skills:
  • Expertise with identifying, shaping, and managing strategic opportunities that support business growth objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing complex gov't. budget information (DoW/IC POM) and communicating trends effectively using tools such as power point.
  • Customer interaction/exposure to the Department of War, the Intelligence Community.
  • Experience with Military Services & Acquisition Process, US Budgetary process, and the Program Objective Memorandum process.
  • Demonstrated ability to present technical presentations to internal and external customers.
  • Previous experience providing market and competitor intelligence on market segments, as well as insights on competition specific to individual opportunities.
  • Experience in orbital warfare concepts, rendezvous and proximity ops, SSA/ISR, or counter-hypersonic systems
  • Demonstrated acquisition experience including acquisition certifications.
  • High energy, self-motivated with a solid work ethic and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective communicator with strong oral, writing, and PowerPoint skills
  • Collaborative, positive, team player-willingness to jump in and support our team members as needed
  • Familiarity with and established contacts in the industry in the LA/El Segundo area.

Pay Range
$215,371 - $240,000

Redwire determines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data, for our locations throughout the US. We will evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index, in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company.
For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth. Salaries will be based on the applicant's level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and internal equity within the company for the same position. An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will receive higher pay.
