Job description

As a Regional Engineering Manager - Specialty & Coating, you will serve as the technical leader for Owens Corning's Nonwovens Operations across North America. In this role, you will drive manufacturing excellence by ensuring process consistency, product quality, operational efficiency, and technical capability across multiple manufacturing sites.

You will provide technical leadership for the specialty and coating product portfolio, partnering closely with Operations, Quality, Science & Technology, Capital Delivery, and Commercial teams to optimize manufacturing performance, standardize best practices, and support long-term business growth. Success in this role requires strong engineering expertise, effective cross-functional leadership, and a passion for continuous improvement.

POSITION LOCATION: Remote (supporting Aiken, SC; Blythewood, SC; Fort Smith, AR; and Gastonia, NC; up to 50% travel required)


What You Will Be Doing:
  • Provide technical leadership for specialty and coating products across supported plants, ensuring process consistency, product quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Establish and maintain product recipes, process parameters, and operating standards that support safe, reliable, and cost-effective manufacturing.
  • Support plant teams in troubleshooting complex manufacturing issues, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement process improvements that increase throughput, improve asset utilization, reduce waste, and enhance energy efficiency.
  • Drive standardization of best practices and technical processes across manufacturing facilities.
  • Partner with Safety, Science & Technology, Capital Delivery, TPM, and Operations teams to align technical standards and improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze product and process performance data to identify trends, prioritize opportunities, and optimize manufacturing outcomes.
  • Develop and execute the regional technical strategy in support of Nonwovens Operational Excellence objectives.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts utilizing TPM, Lean, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence methodologies.
  • Support successful implementation of capital projects, product launches, and strategic manufacturing initiatives.
  • Coach and develop plant technical talent, strengthening technical capabilities and building a sustainable talent pipeline.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to Plant Technical and Quality Leaders through strong collaboration and influence.
  • Partner with Commercial, Finance, Customer Fulfillment, Quality, Innovation, and Information Systems teams to support business objectives and customer requirements.
  • Support Management of Change (MOC) processes and ensure technical changes are implemented safely and effectively.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading engineering, quality, operational improvement, or technical initiatives across manufacturing operations.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, product quality systems, and process optimization.
  • Experience applying Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization.
  • Strong problem-solving, data analysis, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities across facilities and stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting multiple manufacturing plants.
  • Experience in Nonwovens, coatings, engineered materials, or related manufacturing environments.
  • Leadership experience with direct reports and/or dotted-line responsibility for technical or quality teams.
  • Experience working across global or geographically dispersed organizations.
  • Knowledge of Nonwovens coating processes, product applications, and customer requirements.
  • Experience leading capital projects, operational excellence initiatives, or manufacturing transformations.
