Job description

What ZeroFox will look like to you...

You're walking into a People team that is actively transforming how it operates. We're mid-implementation on a new HRIS platform, moving payroll under HR for the first time, and supporting a workforce that spans 10 countries across four different employment frameworks. The person stepping into this seat gets to shape how these things land, not just execute against a finished plan.

You'll be the connective tissue between our US-based People Ops function and specialists in Chile and India, with a close partnership with our global HRBP team. The benefits frameworks, compliance calendars, and HRIS infrastructure you build is what the entire global People team depends on. That kind of cross-functional reach at manager level isn't common.

You'll be based in our Baltimore headquarters, reporting directly to the VP of Human Resources.

The job...

This role owns two pillars. Roughly 30% of your time lives in payroll, working side by side with accounting on processing, tax compliance, and employee expense report management across US and international jurisdictions. The remaining 70% is HR operations: supporting global benefits administration across the US, Chile, India, UK, and EOR countries; compliance program management; HRIS ownership including a new platform implementation; leave management; and vendor relationships across our benefits broker network and HR tech stack.

You'll be the connective tissue between our US-based People Ops function and specialists in Chile and India, ensuring global initiatives are executed consistently. You'll collaborate closely with our global HRBP team as a key partner in delivering a strong employee experience across every region we operate in. The benefits frameworks, compliance calendars, and HRIS infrastructure you build is what the entire global People team depends on, regardless of how reporting lines are structured.

You'll thrive here if...

  • You've owned payroll before not just watched it happen, but been accountable for accuracy, tax filings, and vendor relationships
  • Compliance complexity energizes rather than exhausts you. Multi-state, multi-country HR and payroll compliance is where you do your best work
  • You can run a benefits open enrollment and a payroll audit in the same week without dropping either
  • You've managed an HRIS implementation or migration and know what good change management looks like from the inside
  • You build processes where none exists. This role requires creating infrastructure, not just maintaining it
  • You're data-first: you trust the report over your memory, and you build dashboards before someone asks for them

This probably isn't for you if...

  • You're looking for a pure HR Ops role because payroll is real and substantial here, about 30% of the job, and you need to want to own it
  • You've been the person who 'coordinates with payroll' rather than running it
  • You need a clean org structure and well-defined swim lanes before you can perform
  • Multi-country employment complexity (EOR models, international payroll, global benefits  and compliance) doesn't interest you
  • You prefer inheriting and optimizing existing processes rather than designing new ones from scratch
  • Fully remote is important to you, this is hybrid out of our Baltimore office

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive HR operations experience with direct, accountable exposure to payroll management
  • Hands-on global or multi-state payroll processing experience: you've been responsible for the output, not just informed of it
  • Experience managing an employee expense report process end to end including reviewing submissions, coordinating approvals, and ensuring timely payment in partnership with Accounting
  • Working knowledge of US benefits administration: open enrollment, FMLA, ADA accommodations, 401(k), HSA, and state-mandated leave programs across multiple jurisdictions
  • HRIS proficiency such as experience managing a platform migration or implementation, not just day-to-day use
  • Strong command of US employment law (FLSA, FMLA, EEO, ERISA, NLRA, ADA) and comfort navigating multi-country compliance requirements
  • Excel and data skills strong enough to build and audit payroll reconciliations and benefits reports independently
  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision (Cigna)
  • Compensation $85,000 - $115,000
  • 401(k) with 3% match, 100% immediately vested
  • HSA with quarterly company contributions
  • Company-paid short/long-term disability, life and AD&D insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) - confidential counseling, legal, and financial support
  • Pet insurance and discount program
