Forward Deployed Engineer
The Opportunity:
Our team develops and delivers commercial-grade AI platforms and applications that support critical missions across the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, civilian agencies, and commercial organizations. Working at the intersection of cyber and AI, team members build solutions for defensive cyber operations, counter-AI, intelligence, agentic AI, and cyber defense. Day to day, this work may include shaping strategy, architecting solutions, integrating Booz Allen and commercial products into customer environments, supporting presales and customer success, and playing a leading role across forward deployed engineering activities that ensure successful integration of AI solutions with production settings. Team members also have opportunities to partner with industry leaders, including leading cyber companies, frontier model providers, and defense technology startups, through strategic collaborations and go-to-market initiatives. Through this work, the team establishes reusable, gold-standard approaches that allow government customers to adopt secure, scalable AI capabilities as shared services.
Our Forward Deployed Engineers will deploy and configure an enterprise defense against AI attackers with precise alerts of agentic threats and extreme denial of AI capabilities. This role will work directly with customers to understand their technical environments, implement containerized components and playbooks, and integrate with existing security tools. The engineer will also troubleshoot deployments, validate system performance, and help translate customer feedback into product and operational improvements.

You Have:
  • 4+ years of experience designing, deploying, and troubleshooting DevOps infrastructure across cloud service providers such as AWS, Azure, GCP, and on-premises environments
  • 4+ years of experience with container technologies such as Docker, container orchestration, virtual machines, and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) environments
  • 3+ years of experience with DevOps and automation platforms such as GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, ArgoCD, or Flux
  • Experience with data routing and integrating new tools into existing technical environments, and designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD workflows and DevOps automation platforms
  • Experience with network and system troubleshooting across UNIX or Linux environments
  • Experience in front-facing or forward-deployed engineering roles
  • Knowledge of Python, SDLC, Bash scripting, and basic cybersecurity concepts
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in a CS or Engineering field and 2+ years of experience in software engineering, or 6+ years of experience in software engineering in lieu of a degree

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience developing enterprise cloud-native solutions involving Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Jenkins, or Azure
  • Experience creating and improving continuous automation across multiple technical stacks
  • Experience creating and improving continuous deployment tools built on Kubernetes
  • Experience triaging and resolving issues related to both open-source and commercial tools in public cloud environments
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python and Linux Shell Script
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • Master's degree

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $77,600.00 to $176,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
