Remote Contractor information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Contractor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Contractor, strong time management, self-motivation, and relevant domain expertise are essential, often supported by proven experience or industry-specific credentials. Familiarity with collaboration tools like Slack, Zoom, and project management platforms such as Asana or Trello is typically required. Excellent written communication, adaptability, and problem-solving skills help remote contractors stand out in virtual environments. These skills and qualities ensure productivity, reliability, and effective collaboration when working independently from various locations.

How does communication typically work for remote contractors collaborating with distributed teams?

Remote contractors usually communicate with their teams via digital platforms such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, or Zoom. It is common to participate in regular virtual meetings, submit progress updates, and coordinate tasks through project management tools. Since contractors often work across time zones, clear and timely communication is essential to stay aligned with team goals and project deadlines. Being proactive in sharing your availability and progress helps ensure smooth collaboration and fosters trust within the team.

What are remote contractors?

Remote contractors are independent professionals or freelancers who work for companies or clients from a location outside of the traditional office setting, often from their own home or a co-working space. They are typically hired for specific projects or tasks and are not considered employees, which means they manage their own taxes, benefits, and work schedule. Remote contractors use digital communication tools to collaborate with teams and deliver results across a variety of industries, such as IT, marketing, writing, and design. This arrangement provides flexibility for both the contractor and the hiring company.

Job description

Video Remote or Telephonic Interpreters Wanted (Work From Home)

Do you interpret professionally in a rare dialect, or one that we don't have listed on our job board currently?

Certified Languages International (CLI) stands at the forefront of world-class interpreting services, and has since its inception in 1996. Thousands of organizations across the country rely on CLI to help them communicate with a growing demographic of Limited English Proficient (LEP) speakers.

-The position that’s available is 100% over-the-phone interpretation.

-CLI has high volume of calls, most of which are medical in nature. We service all industries including insurance, financial, utility companies, customer service and state courts, etc.

-CLI utilizes freelance interpreters (independent contractors) and this position is work from home, meaning you set your own schedule. CLI has clients needing interpreting service 24/7 and you can provide your service any time using our online portal or your landline telephone to log on and off.

-You must meet all of the requirements to work in the United States legally (SSN or EIN & Photo ID required) and you must reside in the United States.

-Payment for rendered services is on a per minute basis and interpreters are paid for every minute spent on the phone interpreting. Payment is issued twice a month , on the 15th and on the last day of the month via direct deposit.

-Interpreting experience is preferred.

-We're currently not recruiting interpreters in California, New Jersey, and New York. If you live in one of these states, please do not apply.

Please apply only if you meet our requirements. After you fill out the application, a recruiter will review your information and will reach out to you if we think you would be a good fit. We will discuss next steps at that time.

Thank you again.
