Job description

Salem Media is seeking a highly organized, strategic, and collaborative professional to join its Strategic Marketing Team (SMT).  This position can be hybrid or fully remote.

The Manager, Strategic Communications & Initiatives will help connect people, information, content, and initiatives across Salem's growing media ecosystem. This role serves as a key liaison between divisions, helping ensure important opportunities, communications, and strategic priorities are visible, coordinated, and executed effectively.

Working closely with the Vice President of Marketing & Communications and senior leadership, this individual will support internal communications, strategic initiatives, executive messaging, content integration efforts, and cross-functional collaboration across the company.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of communications, operations, project management, and relationship-building.


Strategic Communications
  • Develop and execute internal communication strategies that improve alignment and visibility across Salem.
  • Track delivery of important narratives across multiple personalities and platforms. 
  • Draft and distribute executive communications, leadership updates, organizational announcements, and company-wide messaging.
  • Support communication surrounding major corporate initiatives, leadership transitions, acquisitions, partnerships, and strategic projects.
  • Maintain communication calendars, distribution lists, and internal communication workflows.
  • Ensure key information reaches the right stakeholders at the right time.
Strategic Initiatives
  • Support planning and execution of cross-functional initiatives led by the Strategic Marketing Team.
  • Coordinate communication and collaboration across multiple business units.
  • Track project timelines, action items, deliverables, and stakeholder responsibilities.
  • Assist in developing initiative roadmaps, presentations, briefing materials, and progress updates.
  • Help identify obstacles and ensure initiatives maintain momentum.
Content Ecosystem Development
  • Serve as a connector across Salem's broadcast, podcast, digital, video, publishing, and event platforms.
  • Identify opportunities for content amplification, cross-promotion, and audience growth.
  • Support the development of workflows and SOPs that strengthen collaboration across divisions.
  • Help facilitate Salem's vision of operating as one integrated media company rather than a collection of individual business units.
  • Coordinate communication around major content launches, company initiatives, and strategic priorities.
Executive Support
  • Assist with executive presentations, talking points, leadership communications, and strategic planning materials.
  • Support recurring leadership meetings by gathering updates, preparing agendas, documenting action items, and ensuring follow-through.
  • Partner with department leaders to improve visibility into ongoing initiatives and opportunities.

  • 5+ years of experience in communications, project management, operations, marketing, public relations, agency account management, corporate communications, or a related field.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and build relationships across teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting executive leadership or strategic initiatives.
  • Experience in media, broadcasting, digital media, publishing, or content organizations.
  • Familiarity with project management systems and workflow tools.
  • Understanding of Christian, conservative, or values-based media audiences.
  • Experience working in highly collaborative, matrixed organizations.
