Job description

Welcome to Warner Bros. Discovery... the stuff dreams are made of.

Who We Are...

When we say, "the stuff dreams are made of," we're not just referring to the world of wizards, dragons and superheroes, or even to the wonders of Planet Earth. Behind WBD's vast portfolio of iconic content and beloved brands, are the storytellers bringing our characters to life, the creators bringing them to your living rooms and the dreamers creating what's next...

From brilliant creatives, to technology trailblazers, across the globe, WBD offers career defining opportunities, thoughtfully curated benefits, and the tools to explore and grow into your best selves. Here you are supported, here you are celebrated, here you can thrive.

TT Games are looking for an Advanced Gameplay Designer with proven experience on console or PC titles. You'll take on a key role in crafting deep, expressive, and satisfying gameplay experiences including 3Cs (characters, cameras, controls) and combat, on an exciting new LEGO game based on a major IP.

Your Role Accountabilities

  • Under the direction of the Lead Designer & Design Director, you will design high quality game play experiences, traversal mechanics, player abilities, and combat systems which support the vision and creative pillars of the game and IP.
  • Collaborate with designers, gameplay coders, artists, audio, and animators to create readable, responsive, and fun player mechanics from prototype to final.
  • Work with other Gameplay and Combat Designers to create mechanics that are distinctive, varied and clearly understood by the player.
  • Liaise with Designers and other disciplines to ensure the systems are understood and supported in the game.
  • Create and maintain design documentation and ensure this is clearly communicated across the team.
  • Via regular reviews you will iterate on feedback from the Lead, Directors, and other Designers, to meet the agreed quality bar.
  • Ensure your work maintains stability and quality throughout development.
  • Play the game regularly, providing feedback in a clear and constructive manner.
  • May interact with and/or provide direction to external resources.
  • Advanced ability to time manage with excellent proactivity.
  • Work with the Production teams and Lead Designer to verify that your task estimations are reasonable, communicating progress and delivering work to deadlines at quality.
  • May participate in creating and managing schedules and determining project benchmarks.
  • May be involved in the planning and execution of project goals.
  • Influences work product quality on the team and seeks to improve the knowledge and performance of others.
  • Act as a mentor and role model. Provide training, guidance and/or direction to less experienced employees and review/provide feedback on their work.
  • Encourage a culture of professionalism, collaboration, and respect.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven high level of games design experience with titles shipped in a 3Cs, gameplay systems, and/or combat design position.
  • In-depth knowledge of game, traversal, combat and AI design with a strong understanding of 3Cs.
  • A passion for creating fun and accessible games for a broad audience.
  • Outstanding creative flare and a great eye for detail - with in-depth knowledge of animation techniques, anticipation cues, hit reactions, and game feel.
  • Highest standards for quality, productivity, initiative and teamwork.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
  • High scripting proficiency, ideally in Blueprint. Experience in behaviour trees a plus.
  • Experience of games development and shipped at least one action or action/adventure title on console or PC title.
  • Ability to take direction and feedback well and self-critique.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Can understand and consider technical considerations related to design.
  • Proficient with UE4/UE5 an advantage.
Hybrid Working - This role is advertised as a Hybrid work model, that combines remote and in-office work, following our current company policy and to be agreed with your Line Manager. Subject to any applicable laws, WBD / your Line Manager reserves the right to change this working agreement where this is essential to business needs and upon reasonable notice to you.
