What is remote color grading?

Remote color grading is the process of adjusting and enhancing the colors of videos or images from a location different than where the original footage is stored or shot. Colorists use specialized software to collaborate with clients or teams over the internet, allowing them to review changes in real time or through uploaded files. This workflow has become popular due to its flexibility, enabling professionals to work with clients worldwide without needing to be physically present in the same studio. It requires high-speed internet and calibrated monitors to ensure color accuracy across locations.
