How does a Remote Coffee Consultant typically collaborate with clients and coffee professionals while working offsite?

As a Remote Coffee Consultant, you will often interact with clients, roasters, and café owners through virtual meetings, email, and shared digital platforms. You may provide guidance on sourcing beans, optimizing brew methods, or developing training materials, often using video calls or online workshops. Effective communication skills and self-management are crucial, as you’ll need to build trust and deliver expertise without being on location. Collaboration tools like Zoom, Slack, and shared documents are commonly used to keep projects on track and maintain strong client relationships.

What are Remote Coffee Consultants?

Remote Coffee Consultants are professionals who offer expert advice and guidance on coffee-related topics, such as brewing methods, equipment selection, menu development, and business strategies, all from a remote location. They work with coffee shops, restaurants, or individual clients to improve coffee quality, develop training programs, and optimize operations without being physically present. Their services can include virtual tastings, equipment recommendations, and troubleshooting common issues. This role requires deep knowledge of coffee, excellent communication skills, and the ability to analyze and address client needs remotely.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Coffee Consultant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Coffee Consultant, you need in-depth knowledge of coffee sourcing, brewing techniques, sensory evaluation, and often barista training, typically backed by experience in the coffee industry or relevant certifications such as SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) credentials. Familiarity with virtual communication tools, CRM software, and online training platforms is essential for remote client engagement and management. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills help consultants build trust and tailor advice to diverse clients. These competencies ensure effective remote guidance, foster client satisfaction, and drive business growth in a competitive market.

Job description

The University Chaplain serves as the spiritual heart of our online community, providing pastoral care, crisis intervention, and spiritual leadership to both students and employees. In this role, the Chaplain fosters an environment that honors the theological foundations of Los Angeles Pacific University while promoting shared beliefs and practices. Key responsibilities include leading community devotions as needed and offering prayer, support, and spiritual guidance that ensures employees and students feel seen and supported. This role will also serve as a Confidential Resource or "safe harbor" under Title IX, where information about sexual misconduct, harassment, or discrimination can be shared without triggering an official report to the university administration.
Primary work location: Remote: This position is classified as "Remote". The classification of this position is subject to change based on business needs, job performance, etc. If an employee changes their physical location/residence to another state it could impact future employment.
Remote Expectation: We expect our employees to be able to fulfill their LAPU responsibilities with minimal distractions. While remote work does offer flexibility, employees should make arrangements for regular dependent care during work hours. This is a fully remote position; however, travel may be required to meet business demands, university needs or team meetings as necessary.
Application Materials: Please submit a PDF version of your resume/CV and list of your current references. We need at least two professional references that have served in a supervisory role.
