Remote Coffee Consultant information

How does a Remote Coffee Consultant typically collaborate with clients and coffee professionals while working offsite?

As a Remote Coffee Consultant, you will often interact with clients, roasters, and café owners through virtual meetings, email, and shared digital platforms. You may provide guidance on sourcing beans, optimizing brew methods, or developing training materials, often using video calls or online workshops. Effective communication skills and self-management are crucial, as you’ll need to build trust and deliver expertise without being on location. Collaboration tools like Zoom, Slack, and shared documents are commonly used to keep projects on track and maintain strong client relationships.

What are Remote Coffee Consultants?

Remote Coffee Consultants are professionals who offer expert advice and guidance on coffee-related topics, such as brewing methods, equipment selection, menu development, and business strategies, all from a remote location. They work with coffee shops, restaurants, or individual clients to improve coffee quality, develop training programs, and optimize operations without being physically present. Their services can include virtual tastings, equipment recommendations, and troubleshooting common issues. This role requires deep knowledge of coffee, excellent communication skills, and the ability to analyze and address client needs remotely.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Coffee Consultant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Coffee Consultant, you need in-depth knowledge of coffee sourcing, brewing techniques, sensory evaluation, and often barista training, typically backed by experience in the coffee industry or relevant certifications such as SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) credentials. Familiarity with virtual communication tools, CRM software, and online training platforms is essential for remote client engagement and management. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills help consultants build trust and tailor advice to diverse clients. These competencies ensure effective remote guidance, foster client satisfaction, and drive business growth in a competitive market.

Job description

At Commonwealth Joe, we help companies create better workplace experiences through award-winning cold brew, specialty coffee, kombucha, pantry solutions, and hospitality beverage programs. From single-office startups and boutique hospitality groups to large multi-location enterprise clients, we partner with organizations looking to elevate employee and guest experience through thoughtful beverage programs.
We're looking for a driven, adaptable, and relationship-oriented Account Executive to join our growing Revenue team. This is a true solution-based sales role for someone who understands how to uncover business challenges, build trust with decision makers, and create customized programs that solve operational, hospitality, and employee experience needs.
This role combines both traditional inside sales activity and field-based relationship selling. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable making high-volume outbound prospecting calls as they are conducting onsite tastings, meeting clients face-to-face, and managing larger consultative sales opportunities.
You'll play a key role in helping build a fast-growing sales organization while working closely with leadership, operations, customer success, and marketing teams. This is a remote based role.
What You'll Do
Own the Full Sales Cycle
  • Prospect, qualify, present, negotiate, and close new business opportunities
  • Manage opportunities ranging from small local offices and restaurants to large multi-location and enterprise accounts
  • Build customized beverage and workplace solutions based on client goals, operational needs, and employee experience initiatives
  • Maintain a healthy and organized sales pipeline while accurately forecasting opportunities
Drive High-Volume Inside Sales Activity
  • Execute consistent outbound prospecting activity through:
    • Cold calling
    • Outbound email campaigns
    • LinkedIn outreach
    • Strategic prospecting and list building
  • Meet and exceed activity metrics related to calls, emails, meetings booked, pipeline generation, and revenue targets
  • Manage inbound leads generated through marketing campaigns, partnerships, events, referrals, and website inquiries
  • Conduct discovery calls and qualification meetings with both self-sourced and inbound prospects
  • Utilize CRM and sales engagement tools to manage activity, pipeline progression, follow-up, and reporting
Build Relationships in the Field
  • Meet clients onsite for walkthroughs, tastings, demos, installations, and relationship-building opportunities
  • Deliver samples and help coordinate coffee tastings, pop-ups, and hospitality events
  • Represent the Commonwealth Joe brand at networking events, client meetings, and industry functions
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and problem solver throughout the customer journey
Help Build a Growing Sales Organization
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Customer Success, Marketing, and Leadership
  • Bring creative ideas to improve sales processes, presentations, prospecting strategies, and customer experience
  • Adapt quickly in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where priorities can evolve rapidly
  • Contribute to a positive, high-performance, team-first culture
What We're Looking For
Sales Experience & Consultative Selling Skills
  • 2+ years of experience in B2B sales, hospitality sales, workplace services, food & beverage, SaaS, or another consultative sales environment
  • Experience with solution-based selling and navigating longer sales cycles with multiple stakeholders
  • Comfortable balancing high-volume outbound activity with relationship-driven consultative selling
  • Experience selling into corporate offices, hospitality groups, restaurants, property management companies, and enterprise organizations is a plus
Entrepreneurial & Adaptable Mindset
  • Comfortable wearing multiple hats and contributing beyond a traditional sales role
  • Resourceful, proactive, and creative problem solver
  • Willingness to work flexible hours when needed for client meetings, tastings, events, or installations
  • Comfortable balancing inside sales responsibilities with in-person client interaction across the DMV region
Communication & Professionalism
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable presenting to both small teams and executive-level stakeholders
  • Positive, collaborative, and team-oriented attitude
Additional Qualifications
  • Experience using CRM platforms and modern sales tools
  • Strong understanding of pipeline management, forecasting, and activity tracking
  • Valid driver's license and comfort traveling locally throughout the region for meetings, tastings, and sample drop-offs
  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
Benefits
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off
  • Voluntary supplemental insurance options
  • Free coffee and cold brew
  • Opportunity to grow with a rapidly expanding company and sales team
Why Commonwealth Joe?
This is not a transactional sales role. We're building a consultative, hospitality-driven sales organization focused on helping companies create better workplace and guest experiences. If you enjoy relationship-building, problem-solving, outbound prospecting, face-to-face client interaction, and being part of a fast-growing team shaping a category, we'd love to meet you.
