Responsibilities
Position will work closely with Revenue Cycle Coding Operations Management to organize, plan, manage and control the day-to-day operations of the Coding department. Leading research and analysis of DNB review, claims edit, and Epic coding work queues. Manages the work of staff who review, interpret, code and abstract medical record documentation according to the Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting. Ensures optimum reimbursement for hospital services through accurate and timely coding of all inpatient and outpatient service lines throughout the Piedmont System. Responsible for reviewing coding quality audit data for improvement opportunities and prepares complex reports as required. Supervisory responsibilities include assigning, directing, monitoring and evaluating members of the Coding team.
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree from a recognized college or university Required or
  • In Lieu of degree six (6) years of relevant Coding/HIM experience will be accepted in addition to the experience requirement Required
  • Master's degree in Health Information Management Preferred
Work Experience
  • 5 years of related Coding/HIM experience is with at least three (3) years of management/leadership experience Required or
  • In lieu of degree eleven (11) years of of related Coding/HIM experience is with at least three (3) years of management/leadership experience Required
Licenses and Certifications
  • RHIA - Registered Health Information Administrator Upon Hire Required or
  • RHIT - Registered Health Information Technician Upon Hire Required or
  • CCS-Certified Coding Specialist Upon Hire Required
