Job description

The Laboratory Billing Analyst/Specialist is responsible for supporting laboratory revenue cycle operations by ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant billing for hospital, outreach, reference client, and non-patient accounts. This role manages billing transactions, account setup and maintenance, charge entry and reconciliation, claim review, reimbursement analysis, payer follow-up, and regulatory compliance activities. The position serves as a key resource for patients, providers, clients, payers, and internal departments, resolving billing inquiries and supporting revenue integrity through accurate documentation, coding validation, audit support, and process improvement initiatives. The Laboratory Billing Analyst/Specialist also generates reports, analyzes billing performance, identifies opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reimbursement outcomes, and maintains strict adherence to organizational, regulatory, and confidentiality standards while delivering exceptional customer service.

SCHEDULE:

  • Full time | 80 hours per pay period every two weeks
  • Monday - Friday | 8:00am- 4:30pm
  • Note: This position is eligible for a hybrid or remote work arrangement after successful completion of six months in the role and demonstration of independent job proficiency.

PAY & BENEFITS:

  • Starting pay begins at $23.76/hour and increases with experience
    • Pay range: $23.76-35.64/hour

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in Healthcare Administration, Medical Billing and Coding, Laboratory Science, Business, Health Information Management, Computer Science, or related field, required.
  • Minimum two years of experience in healthcare billing, coding, revenue cycle, laboratory operations, insurance processing, or related healthcare financial services. 
  • Experience with laboratory information systems (LIS), electronic medical records, and billing systems preferred. 
  • Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer billing requirements preferred.
  • Strong understanding of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, modifiers, and laboratory billing requirements.
  • Knowledge of medical necessity regulations and reimbursement methodologies. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and revenue cycle reporting tools.
