The Center for Mental Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and experienced Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) to join our team in providing exceptional telehealth services to patients facing the complexities of trauma-induced mental health challenges. You will work Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, allowing for a structured workweek while providing the opportunity to connect with patients across a variety of settings. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, you will take on a diverse range of responsibilities aimed at fostering patient well-being, including:

• Conducting thorough initial assessments to evaluate patient needs, concerns, and treatment goals.
• Developing comprehensive, personalized treatment plans that address the unique mental and emotional hurdles faced by trauma patients.
• Engaging in active listening and empathetic communication with patients to establish trust and cultivate a therapeutic alliance.
• Implementing evidence-based interventions and coping strategies to guide patients through their recovery journey.
• Regularly monitoring and adapting treatment plans based on patient progress and feedback.
• Educating patients and their families on various coping mechanisms for managing stress, anxiety, and trauma-related symptoms.
• Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, including social and medical agencies and community support programs, to provide patients with comprehensive resources.
• Participating in ongoing professional development and continuing education to maintain your National Certified Counselor credentials and stay abreast of the latest therapeutic practices.

Your primary focus will be on patients overcoming trauma, which requires a nuanced understanding of trauma-related disorders, including PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Many of your patients will present with complex histories and varying needs, necessitating personalized, compassionate care that empowers them to reclaim their lives. Your role is pivotal in creating a supportive space where patients feel safe to explore their emotions and work towards healing.

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling or a related field.
• Current Licensure as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in New York State.
• Minimum of three years of experience working with trauma patients, demonstrating proficiency in trauma-informed care.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling effective collaboration with patients and colleagues.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, along with a willingness to learn additional software tools such as Salesforce and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).

While not required, preference will be given to candidates with:

• Previous experience working in telehealth settings, showcasing adaptability to virtual care environments.
• Familiarity with community resources and agencies relevant to mental health treatment.
• Experience using Salesforce or EMR platforms for managing patient records and reporting.
