Job description

You will investigate and maintains highly complex property/casualty claims. You will determine liability, secure information, review coverages, arrange appraisals, and settles claims. You will report to a senior manager, litigation.
Internal candidates are encouraged to apply and should review the internal mobility guidelines in the hybrid policy reference guide for more information on potential relocation.
In this primarily home-based role, you will spend 80% of your time (4+ days per week) working from home, proximate to one of our office locations (within approximately 35-50 miles). On occasion you may be asked to travel to an office location for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, trainings, and culture events. Locations are: Madison, WI; Boston, MA; Denver, CO; Hopkins, MN; Keene, NH; St. Joseph; Phoenix, AZ.

What You'll Do:

  • Investigate origin and cause of high exposure claims by contacting the appropriate parties including insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, experts, special investigation unit, other adjusters, public personnel, etc. Check for prior claims and recognizes environmental exposures.

  • Participate in High Damage Reviews (HDR) to address coverage issues and exposure. Handle claims on a good faith basis

  • Handle both 1st party and 3rd party claims under multiple policy types and numerous endorsements

  • Conduct on-site inspections when needed, evaluate damages and handle claim negotiations with insureds, claimants, attorneys, public adjusters

  • Respond to customer inquiries, make appropriate decisions, and close file as needed

  • Interpret and determine policies, leases, by-laws, declarations, articles, and contract coverages and applies to all parties for assigned losses. Interpret claim history coverages

  • Make independent decisions but recognize when assistance is needed

  • Proactively provide all parties with claim process and status as appropriate; answer questions or redirect to other areas

  • Serve as a mentor and subject matter expert for less experienced adjusters

  • May be required to complete other assignments, job duties, or participate in projects based upon skills, achievements, or experience

  • Coverage experience preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to handle 1st and 3rd party, multi-line claims across our operating territories

  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively handle complex claims

  • Extensive knowledge of policies and endorsements coverages

  • Successfully applied knowledge of each phase of the claim handling process

Licenses

  • Obtain state specific property casualty claims licensing as required

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 10%.

  • Catastrophe travel up to 75% as applicable
