About the Cornell Experience Modernization Initiative (CEMI)                      

The Cornell Experience Modernization Initiative (CEMI) is a multi-year program designed to improve the experience of students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, patients, and partners by unifying and enhancing administrative systems and processes across all Cornell University locations. Its name CEMI is said as “See Me” because the focus is on you: the people who use Cornell’s systems and data to accomplish your goals.

What will you do:

Cornell University seeks an experienced and operationally focused Salesforce Operations Manager (CEMI) to oversee the day-to-day health, delivery, and continuous improvement of the university\'s enterprise Salesforce ecosystem. This role is responsible for managing and developing a high-performing team of Salesforce professionals who support multiple Salesforce orgs and Marketing Cloud across a diverse portfolio of academic, student-facing, administrative, marketing, and advancement solutions.

The Salesforce Operations Manager (CEMI) will provide operational leadership for the Salesforce team, overseeing workload management, sprint planning, service delivery, production support, platform enhancements, integrations, data integrity, security, and compliance. The role is accountable for ensuring team effectiveness, fostering professional development, establishing operational best practices, and promoting a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and customer-focused service.

This is a hands-on operational leadership role focused on maintaining a stable, scalable, and secure Salesforce environment while aligning platform capabilities with institutional priorities and delivering consistent value to campus partners.

This is a 2-year term appointment which may end or extend based on organizational needs, funding availability, and performance.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience in Salesforce administration, operations, or platform management roles or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience managing teams, technical operations, or cross-functional delivery groups.
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce configuration, security, integrations, and release cycles.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume work across multiple Salesforce orgs and products.
  • Project management experience leading enhancements and small projects, defining deliverables, and keeping work on track.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts clearly.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and structured change management processes.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical, data, and integration issues.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data privacy and compliance requirements including FERPA and HIPAA.
  • Operationally focused with strong ability to manage competing priorities and keep work moving.
  • Strong problem-solver who thrives in complex, high-volume environments.
  • Collaborative leader skilled at building partnerships across units and disciplines.
  • Customer-centric mindset with commitment to delivering value and improving user experience.
  • High attention to detail, quality, and follow-through.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  • Experience supporting multi-org Salesforce environments.
  • Familiarity with enterprise integration platforms (e.g., Boomi), APIs, and data synchronization.
  • Background in higher education, student services, or similarly complex environments.
  • Relevant Salesforce certifications (Admin, Advanced Admin, Platform App Builder, Business Analyst, Marketing Cloud).
  • Experience with large enterprise CRM environments.
