Job description

This role requires travel up to 100%

SUMMARY 

Mortenson is currently seeking a Quality Engineer that will be responsible for quality control processes on a project for assigned scopes of work, potentially partnering with senior quality managers on larger projects, while managing, monitoring, reporting, and analyzing project quality performance and leading corrective/preventive actions. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Foster strong teamwork orientation and promote diversity 

  • Build strong cross-cultural relationships and influence others at all levels, resolving cross-cultural conflicts appropriately 

  • Serve as a technical resource and guide for project team staff 

  • Implement the Quality Management Plan and system for all assigned divisions of work from notice to proceed through final acceptance 

  • Oversee quality inspection of materials and work, conduct quality inspections, and identify non-conformances with project requirements 

  • Manage Non-Conformance Notices (NCN) and the Request for Information (RFI) process through corrective actions 

  • Train and manage project personnel on their roles, responsibilities, and processes to support Mortenson's Quality System 

  • Discuss and resolve technical issues with customers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors, ensuring design documents meet customer requirements 

  • Capture and share best practices used on the project, and identify opportunities to enhance margin or minimize risk through means-and-methods or material selection 

  • Effectively work and build relationships with individuals of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience 

  • Minimum one year of experience within the design, engineering, or construction industry 

  • Current driver's license 

  • Ability to conduct constructability reviews, quality reviews of design documents, shop drawing reviews, and submittal reviews for assigned scopes of work 

  • Knowledge of the design-bid-build process 

  • Good mechanical aptitude and knowledge in the use of large cranes, mechanical systems, and utility-based medium and high voltage electrical systems 

  • Self-starter, independent worker, and computer literate 

  • Strong teamwork orientation 

  • Basic knowledge of construction processes, systems, and project management 

  • Active listening skills and effective communication, including openness to diverse input and feedback

Quality Engineer I:

The base pay range for this role is $76,600 MIN - $95,800 MAX. 

Quality Engineer II:

The base pay range for this role is $89,500 MIN - $120,800 MAX. 

(Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%). 

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.  This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
