Job description

Position: Chief Growth Officer

TrulyFree.com | Remote (Year 1) Traverse City, MI

This isn't a CMO role at a CPG brand. This is the growth engine of a decentralized social commerce platform, part marketplace, part creator economy, part live-shopping revolution. If you've been waiting for the chance to build something that sits at the intersection of Whatnot, TikTok Shop, Amazon and the next wave of community-driven commerce, keep reading.

The Opportunity

TrulyFree.com (TF) is a decentralized social commerce platform that connects brands with creators and influencers to drive live selling, live shopping, and gamified commerce experiences. We also happen to own and operate a successful CPG brand (TrulyFreeHome.com), but make no mistake, this role is about building and scaling a platform, not running brand marketing.

Since launching in November 2025, TF has already acquired nearly 200,000 customers, onboarded close to 300 brands, listed over 14,000 products, and activated a network of 4,000+ influencers. We're just getting started, and we need a growth leader who can pour fuel on this fire.

As Chief Growth Officer, you'll report directly to the CEO and own the full growth stack: customer acquisition, creator/influencer network expansion, brand onboarding, media buying, engagement, and revenue growth across the platform. You'll inherit a loyal and eager team of seven, triple that team within your first 90 days, and work shoulder-to-shoulder with the CEO, Head of Product, CTO, and BI team to shape the product roadmap and intelligence infrastructure that powers growth.

What You'll Own

  • Platform Growth Strategy: Architect and execute the end-to-end growth strategy for a two-sided marketplace connecting brands, creators, and consumers.
  • Creator & Influencer Economy: Build, scale, and optimize the creator/influencer/affiliate engine that is the core GTM motion for TF. Recruit and activate creators who drive on-platform commerce through live selling and social content.
  • Brand & Seller Acquisition: Develop and execute strategies to onboard 1,000+ brands in the next 12 months, ensuring they see measurable ROI from the platform.
  • Customer Acquisition & Engagement: Drive 750,000+ new customers to the platform while achieving CAC breakeven within 45 days. Own app downloads, activation, retention, and engagement metrics.
  • Live Commerce & Social Shopping: Champion and scale live selling/shopping experiences that differentiate TF in the market. Gamify the shopping experience to drive engagement and repeat behavior.
  • Media Buying & Performance Marketing: Manage paid acquisition budgets with a scrappy, ROI-obsessed approach. Every dollar accountable.
  • Team Building: Inherit a team of 7, grow to 21+ within 90 days. Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing specialists across growth marketing, creator partnerships, brand development, performance media, lifecycle, and analytics.
  • Data & Intelligence: Partner with the BI team to build the reporting infrastructure and dashboards that give growth teams real-time visibility into what's working.
  • Product Influence: Sit at the table with the CEO, Head of Product, and CTO to influence platform features, growth loops, and creator/seller tools.

12-Month Scorecard

You'll be measured on outcomes, not activity. Here's what success looks like:

Who You Are

You're not a traditional marketer who landed in a C-suite by managing brand campaigns. You're a builder-operator who has lived inside the social commerce, creator economy, and marketplace worlds and has the scars and wins to prove it.

Required Experience

  • 10-15 yearsof progressive growth/marketing leadership, with significant time spent in social commerce, marketplace platforms, or the creator/influencer economy.
  • Deep domain expertise in live selling/live shopping, social commerce platforms, and community-driven commerce models.
  • Proven track record of scaling a two-sided (or multi-sided) marketplace, you understand the chicken-and-egg dynamics of supply and demand acquisition.
  • Creator/influencer network experience: You've built and scaled affiliate, influencer, or creator programs that drove measurable commerce outcomes, not just awareness.
  • Performance media expertise: Hands-on experience managing significant paid acquisition budgets with ruthless ROI discipline.
  • Team builder: You've rapidly recruited, onboarded, and scaled high-performing marketing and growth teams (not just managed existing ones).
  • Technical fluency: Comfortable working with product and engineering teams, influencing roadmaps, and making data-driven decisions with BI/analytics partners.
  • Startup DNA: You thrive in ambiguity, move fast, and know how to do more with less. You're an intrapreneur who treats company resources like their own money.

Bonus Points

  • Experience at or deep familiarity with platforms like Whatnot, TikTok Shop, Amazon Live, Fanatics Live, ShopShops, Talkshoplive, or similar.
  • Background in gamification mechanics applied to commerce or engagement.
  • Experience scaling from startup stage through Series A/B or equivalent hypergrowth phase.
  • Existing relationships with creator networks, talent agencies, or influencer management platforms.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Very competitive 6-figure base salary commensurate with experience and the scope of this role.
  • Performance-based bonus structure tied to platform growth milestones.
  • Meaningful stock option package, this is a ground-floor leadership opportunity with significant upside.
  • Direct report to the CEO with a seat at the leadership table.
  • The rare chance to shape a platform from early traction through hypergrowth.

Your Future Home: Traverse City, Michigan

This role is remote for Year 1, giving you time to ramp, deliver results, and plan your move. After that, you'll relocate to Traverse City, and once you see it, you'll understand why this is a feature, not a tradeoff.

Traverse City consistently ranks among America's best small towns, and for good reason:

World-class outdoors: Lake Michigan beaches, Sleeping Bear Dunes (voted "Most Beautiful Place in America"), skiing, biking, kayaking, and 600+ miles of trails right outside your door.

Wine & food scene: 40+ wineries and tasting rooms on two peninsulas, a thriving farm-to-table restaurant scene, and the Cherry Capital of the World.

Family-first quality of life: Top-rated schools, safe neighborhoods, a tight-knit community, and a cost of living that lets your compensation go dramatically further than coastal metros.

Growing tech ecosystem: A burgeoning community of startups, remote workers, and entrepreneurs who chose quality of life without sacrificing career ambition.

Four-season adventure: Crystal-clear summers, stunning fall color, world-class skiing in winter, and a spring that makes everything feel possible again.

This is the kind of place where your kids grow up playing on beaches instead of in traffic, where you can close your laptop and be on the water in 10 minutes, and where your neighbors actually know your name. It's not a compromise, it's an upgrade.
