Job description

A Day in the Life of a Sr. Manager, BI & Analytics

As the Sr. Manager, BI & Analytics, you will play a pivotal role in transforming data into actionable insights that drive business performance across the organization. In this highly visible leadership position, you will lead a team responsible for business intelligence, data engineering, and data architecture while partnering closely with operations, finance, sales, and executive leadership. You'll own the BI delivery roadmap from intake and requirements gathering through development, deployment, and adoption, ensuring stakeholders receive dashboards, reporting, and analytical capabilities they need to make informed decisions. This is a unique opportunity for a strategic leader who enjoys balancing people leadership, stakeholder engagement, and technical oversight in a remote-first environment with limited travel.

Your morning may begin by meeting with branch operations leaders to understand reporting needs, followed by a working session with finance executives to refine key performance metrics. Throughout the day, you'll guide your team on Power BI dashboard development, review data architecture standards within Databricks' Medallion architecture, and help prioritize initiatives on the BI roadmap. As a player-coach, you'll remove roadblocks, mentor team members, and ensure projects are delivered on schedule while maintaining high standards for quality and scalability. You'll also explore emerging AI-enable analytics capabilities, identifying opportunities to enhance decision-making and create greater business value. Success in this role comes from your ability to build strong stakeholder relationships, translate complex business challenges into data-drive solutions, and lead a high-performing team that delivers meaningful results.

Responsibilities:

  • Own and execute the BI and analytics roadmap, delivering dashboards, reporting, and data products that drive operational and executive decision-making.
  • Partner with business leaders to translate complex challenges into actionable analytics, scalable data solutions, and measurable outcomes.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of BI, data engineering, and data architecture professionals in a player-coach environment.
  • Establish and enforce standards for data visualization, semantic modeling, reporting, governance, and platform performance.
  • Prioritize competing business needs, manage stakeholder expectations, and ensure on-time delivery of high-value analytics initiatives.
  • Drive enterprise adoption of BI capabilities through training, self-service enablement, documentation, and change management.
  • Champion a single source of truth through certified datasets, consistent metrics, data quality standards, and reporting SLAs.
  • Partner with Data & AI leaders to advance modern data platform capabilities, including Databricks, Lakehouse architecture, and enterprise reporting solutions.
  • Leverage AI-enabled analytics, natural language querying, and emerging technologies to accelerate insights and enhance decision-making.
  • Evaluate and recommend innovative data, AI, and reporting technologies that support long-term business strategy and growth.
  • Ensure strong governance, security, and responsible use of data products that support both analytics and enterprise AI initiatives.
  • Lead workforce planning, hiring, performance management, succession planning, and employee development for a team of senior practitioners.
  • Manage BI platform investments, reporting service levels, and incident response processes that support critical business operations.
  • Deliver innovative, cross-functional data and analytics initiatives across the U.S. and Canada in a remote-first environment.

Experience & Education:

  • 7+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics, Data Engineering, or Data Platform roles.
  • 2+ years of experience leading, mentoring, or developing technical teams.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Databricks or similar Lakehouse platforms, advanced SQL, dimensional data modeling, and modern data architecture practices.
  • Proven success partnering with stakeholders to gather requirements, manage roadmaps, and deliver analytics solutions for senior leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, quantitative discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience supporting AI-enabled analytics, LLM-based applications, MLflow, or data products consumed by AI assistants and agents.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Data Vault modeling, dbt, and modern data orchestration technologies.
  • Experience working in multi-site, operationally complex industries such as restoration, construction, field services, manufacturing, distribution, or related sectors.
  • Knowledge of enterprise systems integration, including Salesforce, NetSuite, or comparable business platforms.
  • Consulting or client-facing delivery experience with a strong focus on stakeholder engagement and solution adoption.
  • Passion for leveraging emerging technologies to improve business outcomes and drive data-informed decision-making.
