What is remote beef sales?

Remote beef sales involve selling beef products to customers through online or digital platforms rather than in-person or at a physical store. Sales representatives communicate with clients via phone, email, or video calls, handling orders, customer inquiries, and logistics remotely. This role often requires knowledge of beef products, supply chains, and customer relationship management tools. The goal is to connect producers or distributors with buyers efficiently, sometimes across wide geographic regions.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a remote beef sales representative?

To thrive as a Remote Beef Sales Representative, you need a solid understanding of the beef industry, strong sales acumen, and often a background in agribusiness or food sales. Familiarity with CRM software, virtual communication platforms, and sometimes certifications in food safety or sales are typically beneficial. Excellent communication, relationship-building, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills for connecting with clients and working independently. These skills are important for effectively reaching customers, closing sales, and maintaining customer satisfaction in a remote, competitive market.

What are common challenges faced by professionals in remote beef sales, and how can they be addressed?

One common challenge in remote beef sales is building trust and relationships with clients without face-to-face interactions. To address this, successful professionals leverage virtual communication tools, provide transparent product information, and ensure prompt, reliable customer service. Managing logistics and coordinating with suppliers remotely can also be complex, so effective organization and regular communication with supply chain partners are essential. Staying updated on industry trends and regulations helps remote beef sales professionals remain competitive and compliant.

Job description

Why Tosca?
At Tosca, we’re redefining supply chains by delivering innovative solutions that drive sustainability, efficiency, and performance. As a leader in reusable packaging, we thrive on collaboration, transparency, and doing the right thing. Here, your work will matter. You’ll lead change, drive impact, and shape the future of how products move through global supply chains. Join a team where your voice is heard, your ideas have power, and your career can grow.
What You'll Do:
As the Director of Sales – Protein, you will lead the commercial strategy and execution for Tosca’s protein supply chain across North America, spanning beef, pork, poultry, and seafood. You’ll oversee a high-performing sales team responsible for managing and growing existing customer relationships while identifying and securing new business across both upstream (processors/plants) and downstream (retail) markets.

This role is critical to expanding the adoption of Tosca’s reusable packaging solutions—RPCs, bins, and pallets—by delivering value through supply chain innovation, sustainability, and strategic partnerships. You'll shape market strategy, drive execution, and unlock growth opportunities that align with Tosca’s mission to build smarter, more sustainable supply chains.

 Responsibilities:
  • Lead the North American protein sales team, including strategy development, growth initiatives, pipeline management, customer relationship management, and budget oversight.
  • Develop and execute downstream (retail-focused) strategies to grow Tosca’s presence in protein categories.
  • Develop and execute upstream strategies across protein processing plants to drive adoption of Tosca’s reusable packaging solutions.
  • Identify, engage, and secure new retail customers; lead cross-functional collaboration with supply chain, logistics, warehousing, sustainability, procurement, and technology teams.
  • Strengthen and expand relationships with existing retail and processing partners.
  • Maintain and grow a pipeline of strategic sales opportunities across protein supply chains.
  • Conduct regular customer visits—both independently and alongside your team—to build relationships, understand customer needs, and ensure alignment of Tosca’s solutions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to uncover customer challenges and develop innovative packaging solutions that drive value.
  • Contribute to the development of new solutions and service offerings that improve supply chain efficiency and sustainability.
  • Actively support RPC conversions and trials at the retail level.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and professional development to direct reports within the sales team.
What We Are Looking For:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of B2B sales experience, ideally in a complex, solution-oriented environment.
  • Proven experience in protein industry sales (beef, pork, poultry, seafood), with a strong understanding of both retail and processor environments.
  • Demonstrated success in leading commercial teams, developing strategy, and managing complex customer relationships.
  • Background in supply chain, packaging, or sustainability solutions preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop, and inspire high-performing teams.
  • Ability to personally conduct high-value sales: open, nurture, and close strategic customer relationships.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to meet with customers and support team activities (overnight stays may be required).
Work Schedule
This is a remote position open to candidates located in the United States. The role requires frequent travel—up to 60% (approx. 15-18 days per month)—across North America to visit customers, service centers, attend industry events, and support your team in the field. Overnight travel should be expected on a regular basis.
Our Commitment to Equal Opportunity
At Tosca, we believe in fostering a workplace where everyone is treated with respect and dignity. We are an equal opportunity employer, dedicated to creating an inclusive and equitable environment where all qualified applicants are considered without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
E-Verify Employer
Tosca participates in the E-Verify program to confirm the employment eligibility of all newly hired employees. For more information, please visit the E-Verify website.
