Job Summary
The Worldwide Australian Labradoodle Association (WALA) is seeking a highly organized, proactive, and solutions-oriented Operations Manager to help strengthen and support our growing international membership organization.
This is not a traditional management role focused solely on oversight. We are looking for someone who enjoys both leading and getting down in the day-to-day weeds and doing. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment, can shift comfortably between strategic coordination and hands-on execution, and takes pride in bringing order, consistency, and follow-through to complex organizations.
Working closely with WALA's volunteer Board of Directors, Team Leads, Independent Contractors, and volunteers, the Operations Manager will serve as the central operational leader responsible for translating Board actions and ideas into action, keeping initiatives moving forward, improving communication and accountability, supporting our teams, and ensuring members receive timely, professional, and consistent service.
This role is ideal for someone who loves building systems, solving problems, improving processes, and helping mission-driven organizations operate at their very best.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Translate Board decisions and priorities into clear action plans and measurable outcomes.
- Coordinate projects and initiatives from concept through completion.
- Track deadlines, assignments, and progress to ensure timely follow-through.
- Identify and proactively address bottlenecks, gaps, and operational challenges.
- Support and guide Team Leads, Independent Contractors, and volunteers while fostering collaboration and accountability.
- Assist with day-to-day operational work as needed to ensure continuity and successful execution.
- Develop, document, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), workflows, and organizational processes.
- Improve communication and coordination across all teams and functions.
- Oversee organizational email accounts and help ensure timely, professional responses.
- Monitor operational priorities and recommend solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Support membership, registration, member services, marketing, and compliance team functions through coordination and follow-through.
- Prepare regular status updates and reports for Board leadership.
- Help preserve organizational knowledge and continuity by maintaining organized records and documentation.
- Promote a positive, member-focused culture centered on professionalism, responsiveness, and continuous improvement.
Desired Skills and Qualifications - The ideal candidate will possess many of the following qualifications:
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Experience building processes, workflows, and systems that improve efficiency.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with volunteers, contractors, and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Comfort navigating ambiguity and identifying practical solutions.
- Experience with nonprofit organizations, membership associations, volunteer-driven organizations, or small businesses is strongly preferred.
- Experience supervising, coaching, or coordinating teams.
- Proficiency with common business technologies including Teams, Microsoft Office or Google Workspace and project management tools.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Commitment to professionalism, accountability, and excellent member service.
