The Admission Application Reviewer plays a critical role in the college admissions process by evaluating and making recommendations on student applications. This position requires a keen eye for detail, an understanding of the college's admissions criteria, and the ability to assess a wide range of application materials. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to shaping the future student body of Emerson College, and making a significant impact on young individuals' educational journeys.
Note: The candidate(s) hired into this role is not eligible for additional assignments within academic programs or at the college.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Carefully assess and review student applications, including academic records, personal essays, letters of recommendation, and standardized test scores.

  • Apply a holistic approach to understand the applicant's overall potential, considering both academic and extracurricular achievements.

  • Make recommendations for admissions decisions based on the college's criteria and standards.

  • Work closely with the admissions team to ensure a consistent and fair review process.

  • Participate in committee discussions regarding admissions decisions.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of application evaluations and decisions.

  • Stay updated with the college's admissions policies, including diversity and inclusion guidelines, and ensure compliance in the review process.

QUALIFICATIONS - Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform this job.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.

  • In addition to the above, minimum of one year of experience in admissions, counseling, or a related field preferred.

  • Previous experience in higher education preferred.

  • In compliance with the Emerson College remote work policy, candidates must reside in one of the following states: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

  • Must be able to sit and review applications on a computer for several consecutive hours.

  • Expected to participate in required training and calibration sessions.

  • Must maintain consistent attendance and adhere to established review timelines.

  • The position may require occasional participation in virtual admissions events or committee meetings.

  • All work must comply with institutional policies and applicable state and federal regulations.
