Job description

Department
Office of Admissions
Responsibilities
The Office of Admissions is a unit within the Division of Enrollment Management, which is comprised of four distinct units: Office of Admissions, Office of the University Registrar, Office of Financial Aid, and Technology Operations. Enrollment Management's integrated services provide distinctive support throughout the student's development and progression in their academic experience - from recruitment through commencement. Through collaboration, communication, and commitment, all units within Enrollment Management achieve the highest level of student-centered service to current and prospective students and families and to campus partners across the University.
The Holistic Application Reviewer is a part-time, seasonal, remote position within the Office of Admissions, with an appointment of approximately six to eight months. This role is responsible for reviewing first year, first time in college applications during the admissions review season from August through March.
Holistic Application Reviewers read and evaluate applications, and all required supporting materials to assess the admissions qualifications of individual applicants. The role also requires a detailed evaluation of the applicant's academic record, including coursework and academic performance, to determine whether applicants meet established minimum college entrance requirements. An understanding of U.S.-based high school curricula is important. Reviewers apply established admissions criteria and policies to ensure accurate, thorough, and consistent evaluations.
This position participates in department-wide application review training alongside full-time and part-time admissions staff and is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and privacy of all applicant records and materials reviewed.
Application review is conducted remotely during a defined review period. Employees must maintain an appropriate home work environment, including a personal computer and reliable high speed internet access. Following the training period, Holistic Application Reviewers are expected to work approximately 15-20 hours per week and meet established file review productivity goals. Application review occurs primarily during the work week, with limited opportunities to complete hours on weekends.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; or a high school diploma/equivalent and four years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • To avoid potential conflicts of interest, Holistic Application Reviewers may not be employed or affiliated with high school counseling, the college application and admissions process, employed by another university, or be the parent, guardian, or immediate family member of a high school student who is planning to apply to college.
  • Experience reviewing high school or college admission applications, resumes, and/or employment applications.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and critical thinking skills, as well as independent initiative.
  • Ability to learn software applications specific to admissions and enrollment management (Slate).
