Job description

Manager of Business Analytics - Remote
About Thriveworks
Thriveworks is a leading mental health provider with over 310 centers, 2,000 clinicians, and a robust virtual counseling business serving hundreds of thousands of clients. Our mission is to help people live happy and successful lives by making high-quality counseling and psychiatry services accessible and affordable. We believe that everyone can benefit from working with a skilled therapist, counselor, or life coach, and we strive to ensure that people all across the country have that very opportunity. Thriveworks' licensed clinicians are in-network with major insurance plans and provide in-person and online care for depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, relationship issues, and more.
About the Job
The Data & Analytics team is a strategic engine driving the operational and clinical growth of the company. The Manager of Business Analytics is a high-impact, "player-coach" role designed for a strong analyst who has evolved into an impactful people manager and strategic business partner.
In this role, you will lead a team of analysts on a day-to-day basis while remaining hands-on in our data stack and operations. You aren't just managing the queue; you are sharpening your team's analytical framework, providing deep technical guidance, and acting as a primary strategic partner to executive and operational business leaders. You will routinely report out on complex analyses, translate data into clear operational recommendations, and ensure the outputs drive real operational changes across marketing, call center operations, and clinical operations workflows. This role reports directly to the VP of Data & Analytics.
Key Responsibilities
People Leadership & Professional Coaching (The Coach)
  • Manage, mentor, and elevate a team of analysts, conducting regular work reviews, dashboard audits, and providing continuous feedback on interpreting data, communicating to non-technical stakeholders, and driving business impact.
  • Oversee day-to-day task allocation, pipeline prioritization, and sprint planning for the analyst team to ensure high-velocity, high-accuracy execution.

Strategic Business Partnership & Report Outs (The Player)
  • Serve as a primary strategic partner to business unit leaders (Growth, Operations, Clinical Quality), leading requirement-gathering sessions and translating broad business goals into precise data requirements.
  • Own the delivery and synthesis of high-level business analyses, directly presenting performance reviews and report-outs to business leaders.
  • Look past the "what" of the data to find the "why"; proactively recommending operational workflow modifications or technical changes based on data-driven insights.
  • Maintain a hands-on presence in the work - jumping into SQL or our BI tool where useful, with your main contribution being the insight and recommendation rather than the build.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experiencein data analytics, business intelligence, or operations analytics; experience managing analysts preferred.
  • Broad generalist analytics background spanning marketing performance (DTC ad channels), enterprise reporting, operational/call center metrics, and ideally some clinical operations metrics.
  • Analytical Fluency: Comfortable writing SQL against relational data warehouses such as Snowflake.
  • BI & Visualization Mastery: Solid experience in enterprise BI tooling (Looker/LookML, Tableau, Power BI) with a passion for designing clean, intuitive, and highly scannable visualizations.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to present dense data findings to non-technical business partners and confidently recommend operational changes.
  • Resilient & Hands-On: A hands-on, positive, and patient-centric attitude with the adaptability required to navigate and scale workflows within a high-growth startup environment.

Bonus Points
  • Experience working natively with Looker (LookML).
  • Background in management consulting, corporate finance, or advanced investment/operations analytics.
  • Strong application of statistical methods to construct, monitor, and report on multivariate A/B testing or cohort conversion risks.

Benefits
  • Casual, progressive, and diverse organization
  • A W2 employment model with access to a 401 (k) program with a 3% employer match
  • Career advancement opportunities
  • Brand pride, you are truly helping people
  • Remote forever (if you choose)
  • Team environment
  • Paid Time Off
  • Healthcare, Dental, Vision, and life insurance benefits - additional coverage options available such as: Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, Group Accident Insurance
  • Professional development & advancement opportunities
  • Bonus opportunity
