Job description

Position Summary

As part of Odyssey's team of Growth professionals, the Senior Business Development Manager, Air Force,  supports growth in the Air Force market, will successfully identify, qualify, and maintain a funnel of new business opportunities, and lead growth initiatives for the organization. This position will require an energetic and proactive approach and a fundamental understanding of the US DoD Air Force market.  The Senior Business Development Manager, Air Force, will work closely with the Group Executive Directors, and report directly to the Director, Corporate Growth.  This is a full-time hybrid role ideally based out of the Hanscom Air Force Base area in MA, Dayton, OH, or one of our corporate offices located near critical Air Force customers.

Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to: 

  • Responsible for the leadership, execution and success of all identified and assigned Air Force market Business Development efforts.
  • Collaborate with Capture, Proposals, Operations and Technical SMEs to pursue a unified Air Force business development strategy.
  • Collaborate with other market Business Development Managers to drive new business and business relationships across all market accounts.
  • Identify, qualify, and maintain a funnel of new business opportunities for a cross-cutting Air Force pipeline.
  • Identify potential future business opportunities by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements.  Responsible for the leadership, execution and success of all identified and assigned Air Force market Business Development efforts.
  • Collaborate with Capture, Proposals, Operations and Technical SMEs to pursue a unified Air Force business development strategy.
  • Collaborate with other market Business Development Managers to drive new business and business relationships across all market accounts.
  • Identify, qualify, and maintain a funnel of new business opportunities for a cross-cutting Air Force pipeline.
  • Identify potential future business opportunities by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements.
  • Maintain a current, related and relevant understanding of emerging/growth markets and long-term trends in Air Force related technology development, procurement and operational needs.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to identify potential risks and opportunities for the business.
  • Stay updated on industry activities, trends and best practices to maintain situational awareness and competitive edge.
  • Function as capture lead on pursuits through Bid/No Bid decision stage review development and presentation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders within Air Force related program offices and developmental organizations across the DoD.
  • Assess the competitive market landscape, apply an understanding of customer "hot buttons", and use strategic filters to help develop and assess potential solutions.
  • Build partnerships with other defense contractors and prime integrators related to the Air Force market.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to absorb, engage and promote our services and network with potential clients.
  • Provide detailed pipeline reporting, including opportunity health and customer engagement updates as required (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly).
  • Assist in proposal reviews and activity, ensuring alignment with customer needs and compliance with requirements.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the Corporate BD Repository.
  • Meet or exceed annual sales and profitability goals as established by the Company, contribute to goal development.
  • Work with the Operational Executive Directors, on strategies for short-, mid- and long-term goals.
  • Prepare presentations and brief Executive Leadership team at stage reviews and manager's meetings and offsites.
  • Continuously contribute to the evolution and expansion of Odyssey's reputation and engagement activity.
Qualifications

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Minimum Required Qualifications

Clearance: Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret Clearance.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in a Business or Technical Discipline.  

Years of Experience: 3-5 years Business Development or Capture experience in DoD Service companies, preferably supporting Air Force related customers and markets.

Preferred Qualifications

Clearance: Active Top Secret

Education: Master's Degree in a business field.

Certifications: Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) or Shipley certification.

Technical Skills

  • Demonstrated track record of identifying and closing new business in similar organizations to Odyssey using consultative and collaborative multi-discipline team approach.

  • Strong understanding of requirements shaping and acquisition/procurement process within the DoD with specific focus on Air Force related organizations.

  • Strong familiarity with Air Force customer base, industrial base and/or user communities supporting acquisition, development, testing, integration sustainment and requirements development activities at key hub location.

Additional Information

Location: Wright Patterson AFB, OH, Hanscom AFB, MA, or one of our corporate offices located near critical Air Force customers. Remote is also an option if not located near critical Air Force customers.
