Manager of Government Billing and Collection

Position Summary:
The Manager of Government Billing and Collection is responsible for the daily operations of the insurance billing and collections department, with a focus on straight Medicaid, Medicare, and insurance follow-up. This role oversees complex billing processes while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with established policies. The Manager will help drive improvements through technology, process automation, and best practices that strengthen departmental productivity and reduce denials. This position works closely with cross-functional teams to streamline billing procedures, support organizational performance metrics, and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
What you'll do:
  • Oversee the daily operations of the billing department to ensure timely and accurate invoice generation.
  • Develop, implement, and optimize billing processes and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Use key performance indicators, dashboards, and scorecards to monitor performance and direct resources as needed.
  • Analyze billing data to identify trends and discrepancies, and recommend improvements.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve billing inquiries and customer disputes quickly.
  • Manage billing specialists by providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on billing performance metrics to senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies related to billing and collections.
  • Lead systemwide initiatives and work collaboratively with other departments to improve billing processes.
  • Maintain effective communication and interpersonal skills to support cross-functional teamwork.

What you'll need:
  • Education: Required: Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Management, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Experience: Required: Minimum of 5 years of experience in billing or accounts receivable, including at least 2 years in a managerial role.
