POSITION DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Relief Cook
Department: White River Roundup
Reports To: White River Roundup Coordinator
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Effective Date: January 2, 2023


POSITION SUMMARY:
Prepare and serve meals at a senior nutrition site.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following statements are illustrative of the essential functions of the job and do not include other non-essential or peripheral duties that may be required. Rio Blanco County reserves the right to modify or change the duties or essential functions of this job at any time.


Prepare and serve food for each meal according to a prepared menu, in a timely manner, which preserves nutrients, creates an appealing meal and provides sufficient quantities to meet service needs. Uses standardized recipes and portion control to prevent waste and assure quality.

Prepare the kitchen and dining area for preparing and serving food. Set tables and replenish supplies.
Clean kitchen and dining area according to daily and monthly schedule. Appropriately stores leftovers.
Ensure all equipment is clean and stored properly. Operate the dishwasher and put away clean dishes.
Record food temperatures daily and handle food according to sanitary standards.


OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:


Keep a daily record of food used from inventory. Maintain proper rotation to prevent food waste.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, skill and ability


Must have a basic understanding of cooking, baking and food service equipment including ovens, grills, food processors and dishwashers.
Must have skill and dexterity using kitchen cutting and chopping utensils and tools to avoid injury.
Must have proficient understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures.

Attention to personal hygiene is essential.
Must be detail oriented, have the ability to work independently, and exercise good judgment.


Education and/or Experience:
Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.


High school diploma or equivalent.
Prior experience in cafeteria cooking, desired.


Work Environment and Physical Demands:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand for long periods of time on a concrete floor.
The employee must occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
Considerable walking, reaching, grasping, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying objects required.
