Job description

Position Scope

The Engineering Coop Program within North American Construction Group will provide you with valuable exposure to heavy equipment reliability and maintenance engineering.ย 

We are currently looking to hire a Reliability Engineer student for our co-op program based out of our Acheson office, located 10 minutes west of Edmonton. To be considered, you must be currently working towards your Mechanical Engineering Degree, other Engineering disciplines will be considered.ย 

Our Acheson location houses both our head office, on the upper level and our maintenance shop, on the ground floor. The shop is our main coordination point for the maintenance of the NACG owned and operated fleet. NACG owns over 600 pieces of heavy equipment including hydraulic shovels, excavators, haul trucks, dozers, graders, articulating trucks, skid steers, etc.

Shift:ย  Monday - Friday, 8:00AM-5:00PM (Hours may vary)

Responsibilities

Working under the direction of the Superintendent of Reliability the successful candidate will work with reliability engineers, OEM/Vendor engineers, maintenance planners, mechanics and upper management to reduce the operating and maintenance costs of the NACG heavy equipment fleet via maintenance and component improvements. As a part of the reliability team, the successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the Reliability Department's activities including:

  • Work to develop, improve, and maintain maintenance systems and processes to increase equipment availability and reduce operating costs
  • Assist in analysis of component change outs to facilitate improved component reporting and forecasting
  • Generate and maintain preventative maintenance schedules for all equipment
  • Assist in failure analysis and creation of reports on equipment components and systems
  • Work with condition monitoring analysts to interpret and recommend practical interventions based on Unit travel data and oil sample data
  • Provide assistance and act as a technical resource for onsite maintenance personnel in troubleshooting or repairing equipment
  • Identify reliability project opportunities and work collaboratively with 3rd party / vendor engineers and technical specialists to find and implement practical timely solutions
Qualifications
  • Our ideal candidates are highly motivated individuals who have excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Looking for an opportunity to work in an office environment with some light shop exposure
  • Individuals with an aptitude or a keen interest in machinery or heavy equipment
  • Mechanical Engineering preferred, however, students of all disciplines within the engineering program will be considered
  • You must hold a valid class 5 driver's license to be considered for this position
