Job description

Convene Hospitality Group (CHG) operates a global portfolio of lifestyle brands focused on creating places and experiences that bring people together. The company designs, develops, and operates hospitality-driven destinations to host gatherings of all kinds, ranging from small corporate meetings to immersive brand activations and beyond. We love bringing people together in person, and that passion for great experiences extends to our employees as well. If you're interested in creating inspiring moments of connection, consider joining our team.

Sales Executive, Social & Private Events | New York City

We're seeking a New York City-based Sales Executive of Social & Private Events to join our Sales team. The Sales Executive, Social & Private Events will report directly to the Director of Sales.

This is a unique opportunity for a high-performing sales professional to help shape and grow a premier social events portfolio in one of New York's most dynamic hospitality companies. While supporting corporate business, your primary focus will be driving the growth of our social catering segment, including weddings, galas, evening receptions, fashion events, and other high-profile celebrations.

More than a traditional sales role, this position is about building market presence, creating lasting client partnerships, and unlocking new revenue opportunities. The ideal candidate is a proactive business developer with a strong network, a passion for hospitality, and a proven ability to cultivate relationships, negotiate complex deals, and close high-value business from prospecting through execution. This role is designed for someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and is excited by the opportunity to help build an emerging sales organization with a clear path toward Senior Sales Executive growth. A genuine passion for food, beverage, exceptional venues, and unforgettable events is essential.

What You'll Do:

  • Proactive Market Expansion: Actively discover and engage new corporate, social, and referral partners. This role is responsible for driving business through aggressive prospecting, networking, and a deep understanding of the New York market.
  • Expert Funnel Management: Own the end-to-end sales process for all opportunities, from initial inquiry to final contract. This position is responsible for efficiently managing a diverse pipeline of corporate meetings, social gatherings, and everything in between.
  • Client Ownership: Cultivate and grow relationships with both current and prospective clients. The goal is to make a meaningful, lasting connection that secures long-term partnerships, not just a single booking.
  • Strategic & Creative Solutions: Generate, negotiate, and close agreements that meet client specifications while adhering to internal revenue goals. This includes exercising creativity in designing solutions for high-touch social catering events, such as galas, receptions, and weddings, and adapting our offerings to meet the unique needs of that market, such as evening programming and fashion shows.
  • Operational Agility & Deal Management: Thrive in a fast-paced, multi-property environment, seamlessly balancing priorities across venues while maintaining exceptional client service. This role requires the ability to manage multiple high-value opportunities simultaneously, navigate competing deadlines, and skillfully negotiate complex agreements to drive revenue across the portfolio.
  • Market Intelligence: Maintain a thorough knowledge of the competitive landscape. This role serves as our eyes and ears, leveraging insights from trade shows and informational sessions to gain a competitive edge.
  • Revenue Accountability: Be accountable for achieving and exceeding monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue goals. The success of this role directly impacts the company's growth.

What We Look For:

  • 3-5+ years of high-volume corporate and social event sales experience in the New York market.
  • A robust and proven network of industry relationships across the New York events market including third-party planners, production companies, event agencies, and key referral partners, with a demonstrated ability to leverage these connections to drive new business opportunities.
  • Proven track record of exceeding revenue goals with a focus on both corporate and social catering.
  • Strategic mindset and strong business acumen to identify, qualify, and close high-value business.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills and a passion for client-facing work.
  • A deep knowledge of food and beverage compositions, menu planning, and current social event trends.
  • Experience with contract management and an understanding of operational challenges.
  • Computer literate in standard sales and hospitality systems (e.g., Google, Hubspot, CRM's).
  • Growth company DNA: a genuine passion for building, scaling, and adapting to ever-changing environments.
  • Alignment with our core values: genuine, relentless, integrity, and teamwork (GRIT).
