DEFINITION: The Business Development & Marketing Manager is a pivotal role in identifying new opportunities, supporting strategic initiatives, and enhancing our brand visibility. This mid-level position bridges the gap between marketing execution and business development support, aligning brand messaging with company goals and BD objectives to drive market growth and client engagement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & MARKETING COORDINATOR:

Business Development:

  • Lead Management & New Business: Support the business development team by creating and managing incoming leads, ensuring timely follow-up and qualifications.
  • Project Research: Utilize online periodicals, lead tools, AI, and industry platforms to identify potential long-term partners, project opportunities, and track bidding activity.
  • CRM Management: Maintain and update the CRM database with contact information, meeting notes, follow-up actions, and project pursuits; assist in mining data to identify new opportunities.
  • Market Intelligence: Gather and synthesize market data, trends, and forecasts to support strategic decision-making and BD targeting.
  • Competitor Analysis: Conduct regular research on competitor activity, market share, and positioning to help shape go-to-market strategies.
  • Relationship Management: Help maintain existing client and stakeholder relationships — including architects, engineers, and economic development contacts — through regular touchpoints and thoughtful follow-ups.
  • Executive Support: Provide direct support to Project Executives and Vice Presidents on business development efforts including research, meeting preparation, tracking outreach, and follow-ups.

Marketing & Brand:

  • Marketing Alignment: Collaborate with marketing to ensure that outreach, branding, and media messaging align with BD goals and overall company strategy.
  • Social Media: Support social media content strategy across LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms in alignment with company messaging goals.
  • Content & Collateral: Assist with the development of marketing collateral, press releases, newsletters, and campaign materials to increase brand awareness.
  • Digital Presence: Support website management and help maintain a strong brand and relationship narrative across all digital channels.
  • Campaign Support: Assist in executing marketing campaigns and programs aligned with company mission and business development objectives.

Proposals & Presentations:

  • Proposal Support: Assist with assembling proposal materials, presentations, and capability statements for client meetings and project pursuits.
  • Presentation Support: Attend internal BD meetings and client-facing presentations; contribute by preparing materials, taking notes, and identifying action items.
  • BD/Pre-Con Collaboration: Work closely with the Business Development and Preconstruction teams to ensure proposal content is current, relevant, and compelling.

Events & Coordination:

  • Calendar Coordination: Maintain and manage regional BD calendars, ensuring visibility into upcoming meetings, networking events, and proposal deadlines.
  • Event Support: Assist with planning and coordination for industry events, tradeshows, conferences, client-facing events, and internal company activities.
  • Networking & Trade Partners: Represent and/or coordinate with BD networking and trade partner events and engagements.

Cross-Functional Communication:

  • Internal Communication: Facilitate communication between BD, marketing, and operations teams to ensure a cohesive and informed pursuit strategy.
  • Internal Marketing: Support internal brand initiatives that reflect company culture and appeal to both employees and prospective recruits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing, business development coordination, or a related field
  • Industry experience in construction, real estate, engineering, or professional services a plus
  • Strong communication skills: written, verbal, and presentation
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms (Insightly or similar) and marketing/BD tools
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and changing priorities
  • Confident with technology-based marketing tools and social media platforms
  • Attention to detail and ability to synthesize market research and data
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Ability to identify and solve problems through creativity and sound marketing principles
