We are looking for a hands-on leader who wants to accelerate humanity's progress toward an off-world future. Our team combines expert knowledge of geological sciences, mechanical engineering, automation, systems engineering, modeling and simulation, and advanced fabrication to build the infrastructure that will create an in-space economy. To join our small team, you must be agile, willing to learn, and able to take on multiple roles as needed.

This role will lead Interlune's efforts to identify, pursue, and win U.S. government funding opportunities, with a primary focus on defense organizations and that align with the company's technology roadmap. This role spans the full business development lifecycle, from engaging government stakeholders to shape new programs early, through leading proposal efforts that convert opportunities into revenue.

Applicants from all industries are welcome, however, there is a strong requirement for candidates with a technical background who have experience with creating new programs and a proven track record of leading successful bid efforts to the US Government for new technology development.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across target government organizations, developing a deep understanding of their planning processes, roadmaps, and procurement cycles to influence program creation in alignment with Interlune's objectives.
  • Manage a growing pipeline of US Government opportunities from initial identification through capture, leading bid teams composed of Interlune staff, industry partners, academic institutions, and research organizations to produce winning proposals.
  • Serve as an internal advocate for aligning Interlune's technology roadmap with customer needs, and support the development of streamlined business development processes, tools, and training across the organization.
  • Success is measured primarily by revenue won from US Government sources for work that directly advances Interlune's technology roadmap.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in US government and/or US government business development roles.
  • A proven track record of successfully managing and growing sales to government customers.
  • Background in an engineering or space technology organization, with the ability to engage with technical teams and translate customer needs into compelling proposals.
  • Ability to travel for customer meetings and relevant conferences.
  • A strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in business development and sales to US defense customers, with a track record of leading successful technical and commercial proposal efforts, from concept formulation and mission architecture through scope definition and strategy alignment.
  • Experience growing business through the SBIR program, including Phase I, Phase II, Phase III, TACFI, and STRATFI mechanisms.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
