Job description

Are you an experienced accounting leader looking to take ownership of a large fixed asset and capital accounting function? Join a well-established company as an Asset Accounting Manager. We're looking for someone with strong general ledger and GAAP fundamentals, along with proven experience leading an accounting team. In this leadership role, you'll oversee a sizable team while staying involved in complex accounting, troubleshooting, reporting, and cross-functional projects.
This team works closely with finance, tax, regulatory, engineering, and project management groups, making this a great opportunity for someone who enjoys both people leadership and the technical side of accounting.
Location : Fully onsite in Portland (some flexibility in scheduling)

Compensation: $115,000-$160,000 + bonus

JOB FOCUS:
  • Lead and develop a team of 10-12 accounting professionals - Coach, develop, and evaluate team members
  • Oversee fixed asset accounting, capital project accounting, and fixed asset reporting
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation
  • Troubleshoot complex fixed asset and capitalization issues across the organization
  • Partner with project managers, engineers, finance, tax, regulatory, and other accounting teams
  • Support SEC and state regulatory reporting
  • Provide accounting analysis related to capitalization, depreciation, asset retirement obligations, and other fixed asset matters
  • Manage month-end close activities and reporting deadlines
  • Coach, develop, and evaluate team members
YOU:
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related field required, CPA Appreciated
  • 3+ years of supervisory or management experience, including developing a team with varying levels of experience
  • Strong general ledger and GAAP foundation
  • Strong understanding of internal controls and financial reporting
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex accounting issues and work effectively across departments
  • Utility accounting experience highly preferred or someone with Big-4/Large Regional accounting firm experience with exposure to a variety of clients
