The Chief Estimator leads and develops our Estimating team while driving strategic project selection and business growth. This role combines leadership with client engagement, networking, and business development, building trusted relationships with customers and industry partners. Youโ€™ll oversee budgets, team performance, and departmental standards, while providing final review and approval of estimates to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.

Essential Functions

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing Estimating team.
  • Collaborate with leadership to drive business growth, secure projects, and strengthen client and industry partnerships.
  • Oversee bids, estimates, and proposals, ensuring accuracy, competitiveness, and timely delivery.
  • Manage budgets, cost data, and estimating processes to maximize efficiency and precision.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and industry partners.
  • Set expectations, coach staff, and support professional development.
  • Establish procedures, prepare reports, and maintain departmental standards.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, ethics, and industry standards.
  • Perform hands-on estimating work as needed, reviewing requests and qualifications.

ABOUT YOU

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in construction, with experience as a Lead or Senior Estimator.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating software.
  • Strong knowledge of N.E.C. and local codes.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil, architectural, structural, and mechanical plans and specifications.
  • Collaborative leader who inspires teams and fosters growth.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: $116,458 โ€“ $196,815 per year, plus additional incentive opportunities, paid weekly. Final salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Posted ranges are made in good faith, and MYR Group reserves the right to adjust based on the selected candidateโ€™s skills and experience.
