Job description

Every day, our team members do amazing things in pursuit of our shared purpose to build trust with our clients, partners, subcontractors, and teammates. No matter your background, education, or career path, if you share our vision to create extraordinary experiences, you belong at HITT.

Recruiter, TexasJob Description:

HITT Contracting is seeking a relationship-driven and highly organized Recruiter to support talent acquisition across our Texas operations. This position is ideally based in our Dallas office, with flexibility to sit in our Houston office, and will partner closely with business leaders across the state to recruit the talent that supports one of HITT's fastest-growing regions. The role reports to a Regional Recruiting Manager and serves as a trusted recruiting partner to operational leaders throughout Texas.

As HITT continues to expand across Texas, recruiting plays a critical role in supporting business growth, project execution, and long-term workforce planning. This role supports hiring across our Dallas and Houston core markets, as well as project teams throughout rural Texas and other remote areas of the country aligned with Texas operations. Success requires balancing day-to-day hiring demands with proactive talent pipeline development across a geographically diverse and highly competitive market.

This is an associate-level recruiting role best suited for someone looking to deepen their experience within a fast-paced, high-performing environment. The role requires strong ownership, initiative, and sound judgment while managing full-cycle recruiting across multiple concurrent searches. Responsibilities span the full recruiting lifecycle from sourcing passive talent through offer negotiation and hiring execution while maintaining HITT's high standards for candidate quality, communication, and overall hiring experience.

At HITT, recruiting is highly relationship-driven and goes far beyond filling open positions. We expect our recruiters to bring market knowledge, proactive sourcing strategies, and thoughtful recommendations that help hiring leaders make stronger hiring decisions. The ideal candidate enjoys building relationships, is naturally curious about talent, and takes pride in uncovering exceptional candidates who may not be actively looking for a new opportunity. While prior construction recruiting experience is preferred, candidates with experience recruiting within similarly relationship-driven industries where proactive sourcing and consultative partnership are essential will also be successful.

This position is expected to work onsite four days per week. HITT was founded in 1937 and is one of the nation's top commercial construction companies with more than $13 billion in annual revenue and projects nationwide. HITT is consistently recognized as a Top Workplace across multiple regions and publications, reflecting our strong culture, people-first approach, and commitment to creating an environment where team members can grow and thrive.

Responsibilities

Full Cycle Recruiting & Hiring Partnership

  • Lead full-cycle recruiting across construction roles supporting HITT's Texas Operations and Site Operations.
  • Partner with hiring managers and regional leadership to understand business priorities, team dynamics, technical requirements, and long-term hiring needs.
  • Develop recruiting strategies for each search, balancing immediate hiring priorities with longer-term pipeline development.
  • Manage the full recruiting lifecycle, including intake meetings, sourcing, screening, interviewing, candidate management, offer development, negotiation, and hiring execution.
  • Drive recruiting processes forward while maintaining HITT's high standards for candidate quality, responsiveness, communication, and overall hiring experience.
  • Serve as a trusted recruiting partner by providing thoughtful candidate assessments, hiring recommendations, and market perspective throughout the recruiting process.
  • Help hiring managers navigate talent availability, competitive market conditions, and hiring expectations while balancing urgency with thoughtful decision-making.

Sourcing & Talent Pipeline Development

  • Develop creative, proactive sourcing strategies that identify high-quality talent beyond traditional job postings and inbound applicants.
  • Build and maintain talent pipelines across Dallas, Houston, Austin, and project locations throughout Texas using direct sourcing, networking, referrals, LinkedIn Recruiter, industry organizations, and targeted outreach.
  • Identify and engage passive candidates, developing long-term relationships that support both current hiring needs and future workforce planning.
  • Continuously strengthen HITT's presence within the Texas construction market through networking, industry events, career fairs, universities, and community partnerships.
  • Provide market intelligence related to talent availability, compensation trends, competitor activity, and recruiting challenges to help inform hiring strategies.
  • Partner with Recruiting leadership to identify recurring or hard-to-fill positions and develop proactive pipeline strategies before hiring needs arise.
  • Partner with Recruiting leadership and Marketing to develop targeted recruiting campaigns, messaging, and outreach strategies that strengthen HITT's employer brand and attract high-quality talent across Texas.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to define ideal candidate profiles, translating business needs into thoughtful sourcing strategies and targeted talent outreach.

Recruiting Operations & Team Partnership

  • Maintain accurate recruiting activity, candidate documentation, and hiring data within Workday and related recruiting systems.
  • Coordinate interview scheduling, candidate communications, feedback collection, and offer administration while ensuring a seamless candidate experience.
  • Monitor recruiting metrics including pipeline health, time-to-fill, sourcing effectiveness, and hiring activity to identify trends, improve recruiting strategies, and provide insight to Recruiting leadership.
  • Use recruiting data and market insights to recommend process improvements, adjust sourcing strategies, and strengthen overall recruiting effectiveness across the Texas region.
  • Ensure recruiting activities comply with applicable employment laws, internal policies, and recruiting standards.
  • Partner closely with HITT's recruiting team, HR Business Partners, and Operations leaders to share recruiting strategies, market insights, and best practices that strengthen talent acquisition across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 2-5+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience required.
  • Recruiting experience within the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry or commercial construction environment is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple concurrent searches while maintaining a high-quality candidate and hiring manager experience.
  • Proven ability to proactively source, engage, and build relationships with passive candidates through LinkedIn Recruiter, networking, referrals, and direct outreach.
  • Experience partnering directly with hiring leaders to develop recruiting strategies, define candidate profiles, and influence hiring decisions.
  • Strong sourcing skills with the ability to identify talent that extends beyond traditional applicant pools.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate both technical qualifications and long-term team fit while providing thoughtful hiring recommendations.
  • Excellent communication, relationship management, and stakeholder partnership skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance competing priorities while maintaining responsiveness and attention to detail.
  • Experience using applicant tracking systems required; Workday experience strongly preferred.
  • Prior recruiting experience supporting construction, engineering, commercial real estate, professional services, or similarly relationship-driven industries preferred.
  • Willingness to travel periodically throughout Texas to support recruiting events, networking opportunities, office visits, and business needs.
  • Strong sense of ownership, adaptability, curiosity, and accountability.
