Casual Membership Recruiter

Do you love to talk to people about Girl Scouts? Do you have some flexibility in your schedule on evenings and weekends? Are you looking to make some additional spending money? We would love to talk to you about becoming a Casual Recruiter for Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois.

As a Casual Recruiter you will help us at pre-scheduled recruitment events during our busiest recruitment seasons. GSNI will supply you with the training and supplies needed for each event and you can choose which events you would like to attend within our council area.

Hours: Variable – depending on availability Salary: $20/hour

Reports to: Director of Membership

We’re looking for dedicated individuals who:

  • Believe in the Girl Scout Mission of building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place
  • Are excited to actively recruit girl and adult members within the council area
  • Are looking to earn a little extra income and only work when it fits within their schedule

Interested? Responsibilities would include:

  • Setting up, hosting and tearing down of displays at pre-scheduled recruitment events.
  • Picking up recruitment kits from and returning them to the nearest GSNI Resource Center
  • Providing information on joining Girl Scouts to those interested
  • Gathering paper registrations and delivering them to GSNI within 2 days of the conclusion of the recruitment event

  • Excellent verbal communication
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Activities include bending, stooping, lifting up to 25 lbs., and carrying
  • Must be at least 18 years old
"Pop into Girl Scout Series

In addition to one-day recruitment events, GSNI is now also offering a 5-session "Pop Into Girl Scout" series that Casual Recruiters can sign up to work. These series meet weekly or bi-weekly at a consistent date and time and are designed to introduce new families to Girl Scouts. The Casual Recruiter will work with a Membership Engagement Specialist for these events, with the Casual Recruiter receiving supplies and training to provide youth programming while the MES works with the adults at the event. We ask Casual Recruiters to commit to all 5 sessions.
