Job description

Recruiting Intern - Paid Internship

Where Healthcare Meets Talent

Walker Healthforce is a specialized healthcare IT consulting and contingent worforce solutions firm connecting exceptional professionals with leading organizations across the healthcare ecosystem. We focus at the intersection of healthcare, technology, and business—connecting talent with opportunities across health systems, health plans, and consulting organizations nationwide.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Recruiting Intern – Sourcing, you’ll gain hands-on experience identifying, engaging, and initially screening candidates for real client opportunities.

Working alongside our recruiting team, you’ll learn how to understand job requirements, research the talent market, find qualified candidates, conduct outreach, and complete introductory candidate screens.

This is a paid, hands-on internship, not an observational program. You’ll contribute directly to active searches while developing practical skills in sourcing, interviewing, professional communication, and recruiting technology.

Candidate Sourcing & Research

  • Partner with Recruiters to understand active job requirements and ideal candidate profiles.
  • Search LinkedIn, Indeed, our internal database, job boards, and other platforms to identify prospective candidates.
  • Build candidate pipelines for current and future hiring needs.
  • Learn to use keywords, filters, Boolean searches, and other sourcing techniques to identify qualified talent.
  • Research candidate backgrounds and evaluate alignment with basic position requirements.
  • Identify and engage passive candidates who may not be actively looking for a new opportunity.
  • Develop hands-on experience with Bullhorn, LinkedIn Recruiter, job boards, and other recruiting technology.

Candidate Outreach & Initial Screening

  • Reach out to prospective candidates by phone, email, LinkedIn, text, and other appropriate channels.
  • Introduce candidates to Walker Healthforce and relevant career opportunities.
  • Conduct introductory phone screens using established screening questions and guidance from Recruiters.
  • Gather information about candidates' experience, career interests, availability, location, compensation expectations, and interest in the opportunity.
  • Identify qualified and interested candidates and connect them with a Recruiter for further evaluation.
  • Provide professional and timely communication throughout the initial candidate experience.

Recruiting Support

  • Maintain accurate candidate records, notes, and activity in Bullhorn.
  • Support active searches by continually identifying and engaging new candidates.
  • Follow up with prospective candidates and help maintain pipelines for future opportunities.
  • Assist with interview scheduling and recruiting coordination as needed.
  • Participate in recruiting team meetings, training, and company-wide events.

What You’ll Learn

During the internship, you'll develop practical experience in candidate sourcing, Boolean search, resume evaluation, introductory interviewing, candidate engagement, recruiting technology, healthcare staffing, and professional communication.

You'll also gain exposure to how a staffing organization works with clients to identify and recruit specialized talent.

What We’re Looking For

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, Sales, Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable speaking with new people and initiating conversations by phone.
  • Curious, resourceful, and willing to learn.
  • Organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable receiving feedback and working toward measurable goals.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort learning new technology.

Preferred

  • Previous internship, part-time job, campus involvement, or other experience involving sales, customer service, research, healthcare, recruiting, or relationship building.
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn or other professional networking platforms.
  • Exposure to healthcare, recruiting, staffing, or talent acquisition.
  • Experience with CRM, ATS, database, or other business software.
  • Interest in pursuing a career in recruiting, staffing, sales, or talent acquisition.

What Success Looks Like

You don't need previous recruiting experience to succeed in this internship. We're looking for someone who enjoys researching and connecting with people, communicates confidently, follows through, and isn't afraid to reach out to someone they haven't met before.

Successful interns will be curious, persistent, coachable, organized, and motivated by goals.

Walker Healthforce is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to a culturally diverse workforce. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, religion, color, age, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability status, or protected veteran status.
