Job description

We specialize in mitigating and rebuilding residential and commercial properties damaged by fire, water, storms, and other disasters. We partner with leading insurance carriers and handle everything from emergency cleanup to complete rebuilds, with a focus on safety, integrity, and advocacy. As entrepreneurs, we take full ownership of the work we do and the families we serve.
At Merit, our purpose is simple and non-negotiable: we work together as a team so we can change lives. Teamwork is the foundation of everything we do-because teamwork creates impact, and impact changes lives. We exist to help people, and the only way we do that at the highest level is by moving as one team, aligned in mission, values, and execution.
Why we exist. We exist for two families. The families we serve and the families inside this company. When we work together and serve our clients at the highest level, both families win.
Our people are the heart of this company - they are our greatest asset. Every property we restore and every job we complete depends on having the right people in the right seats. We are committed to finding and hiring the best talent: people who want to come be part of something great, who are ready to contribute to something bigger than themselves, and who bring the right mindset to a team built on excellence.
It starts with this role. As our In-House Recruiter, you are the one digging deep to find, attract, and secure that talent. You'll drive full-cycle recruiting across Merit's field, office, and leadership roles - mitigation techs, project managers, estimators, support staff, and management - because the strength of our teams begins with the people you bring through the door.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Core responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Full-Cycle Recruiting
• Lead all sourcing, screening, and interviewing efforts for field, office, and leadership roles.
• Partner with hiring managers to understand workforce needs across Merit's teams.
• Manage job postings and candidate communication with speed and professionalism.
Sourcing & Pipeline Development
• Build and maintain pipelines for high-volume roles (Mitigation Techs, PMs, estimators, laborers, coordinators, admin, etc.).
• Proactively recruit through job boards, community networks, trade schools, referrals, and social channels.
• Manage and support the employee referral program.
Interviewing & Coordination
• Conduct phone screens and coordinate interviews and assessments with the hiring team.
• Assist hiring managers on effective interviewing and evaluation tools.
• Maintain clear notes, follow-ups, and records throughout the selection process.
Lead Tracking & Reporting
• Track all recruiting activity in the ATS/CRM.
• Provide weekly updates on open roles, progress, and bottlenecks.
• Maintain recruiting metrics, including time-to-fill and pipeline movement.
Marketing & Employer Brand
• Present Merit professionally in all recruiting interactions.
• Support the marketing team with coordination on recruiting materials and digital hiring campaigns.
• Partner with leadership on brand presence at hiring events, job fairs, and networking opportunities.
Requirements
• 3-7 years of recruiting experience, preferably in restoration, construction, or skilled trades.
• Proven success in high-volume recruiting with measurable results.
• Experience partnering directly with leadership and hiring managers on both field and leadership-level roles.
• Fluent in today's recruiting technology and sourcing strategies - ATS/CRM platforms, LinkedIn Recruiter, job boards, and social media - and genuinely plugged into what's working in recruiting right now.
• Energetic and motivated-someone who thrives on connecting with people and moving with urgency.
• Proactive and persistent in outreach, follow-up, and building recruiting pipelines.
• Organized and disciplined with excellent systems for tracking candidates, interviews, and onboarding.
• Relational and trustworthy, able to build rapport quickly with both candidates and hiring managers.
• Confident communicator who makes strong first impressions and represents the brand well.
• Resourceful and solutions-oriented, able to navigate challenges and keep hiring momentum strong.
• Strong judgment in assessing character, culture fit, and long-term potential.
• Resilient and steady under pressure, able to keep pace in a fast-moving environment.
Benefits
  • Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)
  • Retirement Plan (401k, IRA)
  • Life Insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D)
  • Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
  • Short Term & Long Term Disability
  • Company cell phone and laptop.
