Job Description

DeAngelo Contracting Services (DCS) is seeking motivated Herbicide Applicator Technicians to control weeds, grass, and brush along roadsides and right-of-way while safely operating herbicide application equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities

Operations

  • Apply herbicides to roadsides, rights-of-way, guardrails, utility poles, curbs, concrete, and other customer-designated areas to control weeds, grass, brush, and invasive vegetation.
  • Operate and maintain spray trucks, ATVs, backpack sprayers, hose application systems, and other vegetation management equipment.
  • Perform daily inspections, calibration, and minor maintenance on vehicles and spray equipment.
  • Maintain required documentation, including application records, labels, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Follow all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations.
  • Drive an attenuator truck and perform other duties as assigned, when required.

Technical

  • Safely operate herbicide application equipment and understand proper application methods.
  • Identify common weeds, grasses, and brush to ensure effective treatment.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and the public.
  • Work safely and effectively in a variety of outdoor weather conditions.
Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience & Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Class B CDL required.
  • Valid driver's license with a minimum of 5 years of clean driving history.
  • Ability to travel for up to 2-3 weeks at a time.
  • Successfully pass a DOT drug screen, DOT physical, background check, previous employment verification, and motor vehicle record review.
  • Previous vegetation management experience is preferred but not required.
  • Commercial Pesticide Applicator License (Core & Rights-of-Way Vegetation Management) preferred. If not currently licensed, the ability to obtain the license within six months of hire is required.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to lift 60 lbs. or more.
  • Must comply with all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and Drug & Alcohol Policy.

Pay rate: $18.00-25.00/ hour depending on experience.
