To accomplish this, we develop plans and procedures, debug and evaluate system functions and interfaces, develop test environments, and work together with our customers. 

What You Will Do

We are currently hiring a Tomahawk Production & Recertification Engineering Hardware Management Team (HMT) Deputy Lead. This leader will develop, maintain and ensure execution of the engineering strategy to meet Raytheon’s commitments of delivering Tomahawk missiles to the US Navy.  The Production and Recertification HMT engineering team is also responsible for transitioning new Tomahawk configurations into production and for all flight test and engineering test missiles delivered from the factory. The role will work directly for the Production & Recertification Engineering HMT Lead and requires critical interaction/event planning with the Chief Engineers, Program Managers, Customer representatives, Supply Chain, Operations, Quality, and other functions.

This person, in collaboration with the HMT Lead, will lead a current team of 60 engineers that will be increasing to 85 engineers within the next year to plan and execute engineering efforts required in support of missile deliveries.  This role will coordinate frequently and directly with program management on financial planning and execution (EVMS). This will require working with engineering HMT and cross product team-leads to strategize and execute the enhancements and scaling required to achieve increased supplier product and missile delivery requirements.  Technical leadership and innovative and systematic problem-solving skills are required to address challenges to meeting missile deliveries. This person will generate basis of estimates in support of proposal efforts and may negotiate directly with the customer counterparts.

The person fulfilling this role will also be working closely with Tomahawk Lead Systems Engineers and Test Architects.  Join this team to perform technically challenging assignments which will directly contribute to protecting our nation and our war fighters. The position is located in Tucson, Arizona.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Develop engineering execution strategies required to meet program contractual requirements
  • Collaborating with Tomahawk PMO and functional organizations on program execution
  • Collaborate with Engineering HMT Lead in task planning and execution, along with financial planning and statusing associated with all Tomahawk contracts
  • Lead engineering teams in supplier execution and addressing supplier challenges
  • Work with Tomahawk Factory Engineering HMTs to meet delivery commitments from each factory
  • Planning for and transitioning new Tomahawk configurations into production
  • Planning for and executing Tomahawk Test Equipment sustainment and growth to support increased capacity
  • Coordination and reviews associated with required Tomahawk technical data package updates (e.g. change notices and variances)
  • Monitor / manage upcoming tasks; assign resources (working knowledge on MS Project)
  • Collaborate actively and attend weekly meetings to provide status and communicate needs
  • Communicating weekly with customer counterparts to status and coordinate missile builds and test events.
  • Leading a team of eighty-five engineers.
  • Coordinating across engineering functions to support missile builds, test support and data analysis.
  • Preparing bids and other work to support flight and field test events
  • This position requires domestic and possibly international travel

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of Ten (10) years of prior relevant experience.
  • Technical leadership experience
  • Experience in managing cost and schedule using Earned Value Management Systems
  • Ability to collaborate across functional organizations to achieve results

  • Test Equipment experience and collaborating across multiple engineering disciplines, such as electrical, electronics, mechanical, software, and computer engineering.

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
