Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to manage and direct operational activities of the manufacturing facility. This position coordinates employees engaged in production as well as the production schedule. This position will also resolve production problems related to methods, tools, fixtures, materials, and manpower.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains schedule of manufacturing products, following quality standards, and strives for the lowest possible cost with the highest quality.
  • Works with Operators to optimize efficiencies for machine set-up and production.
  • Coordinates with the engineering group to ensure work instructions and time standards are followed.
  • Coordinates with Production Planning on a daily basis.
  • Manages Shipping and Receiving employees.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors processes for preparing, running and completing jobs.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists employees in solving work problems.
  • Confirms all line machinery is clean and functioning and all safety devices are used.
  • Develops procedures and techniques to reduce process variation and manufacturing delays, while increasing productivity.
  • Directs efforts of manufacturing staff, ensuring all work is coordinated, downtime is minimized, and products meet established quality standards.
  • Reviews daily production and operating data and provides reports to management.
  • Plans and develops staffing schedules and assigns employees to specific duties.
  • Evaluates quality processes and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Establishes goals for production and coordinates a plan to meet those goals.
  • Writes production reports.
  • Directs an efficient layout of equipment and flow of materials.
  • Ensures workers and equipment meet performance and safety requirements.
  • Analyzes production processes and data and ensures production stays on schedule. Also ensures that production is optimized for efficiency.
  • Provides information back to management.
  • Recruits, hires, trains staff, evaluates employee performance, and recommends or initiates promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Position Qualifications

· Two-year degree preferred.

· At least ten years of manufacturing experience in machine/shop industry required.

· At least 5 years of managing employees required.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Working knowledge of mills, both vertical and horizontal, and lathes machinery required.

• Proficient in MS Office Suite.

• Knowledge of CAM programming and coding.

• Skill in written communications

• Must have managerial skills and be able to function in a supervisory role.

• Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

• Must be able to prioritize work to meet scheduled deadlines while handling multiple tasks.

• Must have excellent accounting skills, strong organization and communication skills.
