Enrichment + Leisure
MAPS Community Education

 

Job Summary: 
Responsibilities include:  Under supervision of the Enrichment Specialist, facilitate a wide range of recreational opportunities including active games, team building activities, arts/crafts, and family events. Opportunities should provide for growth, development, and self-fulfillment of the individual through intellectual, physical, and social involvement for all ages.

 


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 
  • Works and communicates closely with other Rec On The Go Leaders, Enrichment Specialist, ROTG Team Leaders, and other Enrichment + Leisure staff.
  • Responsible for attending staff training and staff meetings.
  • Assists in making adjustments to specific programs to meet the needs of participants.
  • Organizes and directs a wide range of activities that fit the season and adapt to both indoor and outdoor venues.
  • Completes necessary forms (attendance, schedules, Incident Reports, etc.).
  • Promotes and assists with planning and implementing special events.
  • Responsible for assisting in the inventory of equipment and materials checked out on a weekly basis.
  • Is able to work within a budget and manage program materials, equipment, and consumable supplies effectively.
   


Applicant Requirements:

 
  • Must be 16 years or older.
  • Ability to work as a team member or to work independently. 
   

Education and/or Experience:

 
  • Experience in working with school aged youth is preferred.
  • Ability to drive a truck with a 6-foot trailer.
   

Other Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrate positive and effective working relationships with youth, staff, administration and  community stakeholders. Maintain professional composure while dealing with a variety of personalities and situations. Communicate clearly and concisely in a professional manner.  Show initiative as a self-starter and be able to demonstrate leadership with minimal supervision. Responsible for confidential information regarding children and families.

Work Environment:

 
  • Busy and noisy indoor and outdoor environment with constant interruptions.
  • Outdoors during the summer months.
   


Organizational Relationship:

 

Summer Playgrounds Leaders are responsible to the Senior Supervisor. School year staff report directly to the CE Recreation Specialist.  Summer Senior Supervisor reports directly to the CE Recreation Specialist.

 

Organizational Relationship:
Rec On The Go Leaders report to the Enrichment Specialist.

 

Hours:
Hours as assigned.  Summer weekdays, occasional evenings and weekends.

 

Pay Rate:
$11.13-$16.00 per hour.

 


This position will be filled on the basis of the experience, competency, and qualifications of the applicant and the needs of the District.  District 77 complies with state and federal fair employment regulations.
