Job description

Duties

  • Performs a broad range of construction related inspection activities to assure quality in road and bridge construction projects.
  • Inspects more difficult or extensive MDOT Local Agency Projects involving Federal Aid Funding requiring detailed reporting and recordkeeping.
  • Maintain project records that are subject to audit by MDOT and FHWA in addition to all normal inspectional requirements.
  • Provides direction and coordinates the work of other inspectors (including third party contractors) when required.
  • Calculate volumes and areas of complex shapes to track material quantities.
  • Must perform duties in a professional and courteous manner to promote a positive image of the Road Commission for Oakland County.
  • Requires a daily schedule that supports RCOC hours of operation.
  • Regular and predictable onsite job attendance is an essential function of this position.


Special Experience/Education

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent with math training sufficient to perform field and laboratory tests.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in construction inspection, commensurate with the duties described above.
  • Experience with AASHTOWare Project and FieldManager is preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state of Michigan driver license.
