We assess market, technology, geopolitical, and competitive forces across the full Raytheon portfolio to drive Raytheon-level strategic choices.
We are seeking a Director of Strategy to lead strategy development efforts that span the entire Raytheon business, drive clarity on long-range priorities, and influence executive-level decision-making.
Unlike roles tied to specific market segments or corporate development ownership, this position focuses on independent analysis, enterprise strategy formulation, and orchestration of complex strategic initiatives.
What You Will Learn
  • Broad understanding of Raytheon's end-to-end portfolio, spanning domains, programs, customers, and competitive environments.
  • Deep exposure to enterprise-level strategy development, environmental scanning, scenario planning, and strategic governance.
  • Engagement with senior leadership across Raytheon and RTX, learning how strategy informs major business, product, and investment decisions.

This onsite role is based in one of the following locations (no relocation assistance provided): Woburn, MA; Arlington, VA; Farmington, CT; McKinney, TX; or Tucson, AZ.
Some travel may be required.
What You Will Do
  • Lead complex, enterprise-level strategy projects, including environmental analyses, competitive assessments, strategic scenarios, and portfolio-level recommendations.
  • Manage cross-functional project teams to deliver strategy workstreams end-to-end including scope definition, project planning, execution, stakeholder engagement, and executive-level delivery.
  • Develop Raytheon-level strategic insights by synthesizing market trends, technology signals, emerging threats, policy developments, and internal capabilities.
  • Build and maintain an integrated strategic picture of Raytheon's opportunities, risks, and long-term choices, advising senior executives on business implications.
  • Design and execute enterprise strategy governance processes, enabling consistent planning, assessment, and strategic decision-making.
  • Communicate complex strategic issues clearly and compellingly through executive presentations, strategy narratives, and facilitated discussions.
  • Coordinate with functional and business leaders to translate strategic direction into actionable initiatives and measurable outcomes.

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Bachelor's degree and 14+ years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with 12+ years of experience.
  • Experience in aerospace and defense or adjacent national security domains.
  • Demonstrated experience directly managing strategy project teams, including project planning, timeline management, stakeholder coordination, and executive delivery.
  • Proven impact on the strategic direction of an organization, such as influencing senior leadership decisions or shaping business priorities.
  • Experience conducting market, competitive, geopolitical, or technology environmental analyses.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with ability to integrate qualitative and quantitative insights into clear strategic recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate insights, develop compelling executive presentations, and influence leadership.
  • Experience working in complex, cross-functional environments.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer
  • MBA or other advanced degree.
  • Experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, or similar analytical environments.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities with demonstrated strategic judgment.
  • Ability to lead with limited authority, build relationships across the organization, and facilitate consensus.
  • High comfort operating in ambiguous environments and shaping structure from complexity.
