Raytheon Hardware Engineering provides Hardware Design and Analysis, Materials and Process Engineering, Producibility and Prototyping, Product Integrity, and Test Equipment Development services for the Land, Air, Space, Naval, and Advanced Technology products designed, developed, produced and serviced at Raytheon. We use state-of-the-art tools, processes, and technologies, with capabilities encompassing a broad range of technical disciplines including electrical, mechanical, materials, aerospace, and manufacturing engineering.
This role is for a Lab Lead to support Columbia, MD Hardware Engineering Labs. In this role, you will manage and implement engineering lab strategic projects and day-to-day administrative functions within multiple engineering labs, with specific focus on safety, security, and compliance using established doctrine and governance. You will be creative and innovative, possessing strong organizational, coordination, planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills. In this position, you must be able to collaborate with customers, employees, and senior leaders when implementing process and procedural changes.
This position is an onsite role in Columbia, MD. The position will be covering multiple labs across the site.
What You Will Do
  • Lab Operating Procedure (LOP) Management; provide direction for lab users on established policies
  • Management coordination and implementation of Environmental Health Safety and Sustainment
  • Property & Metrology Management including maintenance of equipment service contracts and ongoing equipment repairs
  • Perform cost analysis, ensure task completion within approved budgets
  • Perform lab purchase requests through SAP, SRM, and Vallen, while providing process support to Supply Chain Management (SCM)
  • Oversee audit/assessment preparation. Overseeing Engineering Lab Objective Evaluation and Voluntary Protection Program; develop corrective action plans and assist in the development of long-range objectives, including engineering customer goals
  • Safeguarding of classified/proprietary material, hardware, and documentation, utilizing defense material/property under Export Administration Regulations
  • Develop and implement communication plans, providing consulting support to functional and engineering customer management
  • Work to influence stakeholders within and outside responsible areas at an operational level regarding policies, practices, and procedures
  • Work autonomously with limited oversight; provide professional input, guidance, and problem solving
  • This position requires some physical exertion while standing, sitting, or walking, working outside
  • Local travel in the general area may be required, with occasional travel outside the local area

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 2 years' prior relevant experience
  • Experience in an engineering lab environment area overseeing or implementing safety, security, compliance and property management
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical drawings and schematics

Qualifications We Prefer
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical/electronic skills
  • Experience potting RF or Photonic systems
  • Experience in rapid prototyping and hardware integration
  • Experience with OSHA/NFPA industrial policies and regulations
  • Experience with working directly with engineers, technicians and leadership in an engineering lab environment in the areas of safety, security, compliance and property management
  • Experience with EHS, NISPOM, JAFAN and Foreign Object Elimination
  • Ability to organize and track Capital and Expense assets
  • Ability to build positive, lasting relationships with customers
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

The salary range for this role is 75,800 USD - 144,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
