Job description

Summary: In this position, you will be responsible for leading the logistics team in unloading raw materials, loading all final products, and the movement of trucks and rails cars on the plant site. This role ensures maximum production quantity and quality while supporting company policies, goals, and objectives.
Essential Functions include but are not limited to:
  • Effectively lead the logistics team by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training team members.
  • Supervisory activities include delegation, training, career development, coaching, and performance management to effectively execute departmental strategies and support company objectives.
  • Ability to operate all department equipment, including but not be limited to rail loader skid loader, front loader, locomotive, and other industrial equipment.
  • Responsible for operating locomotives; interpreting train orders, signals, rules, and regulations; transporting freight; timely and correct switching and placement of rail cars.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including but not limited to environmental, safety, and railroad regulations.
  • Communicate with schedulers, drivers, customer, and the Production Manager assuring timely loading of multiple ethanol specs., DDGS and Wet Distilled Grain and other finished products to accommodate all car deliveries and pickups.
  • Assure all equipment used to load distillers, ethanol, and weighing grading grain is in the right operating conditions and initiate repairs as needed. Including scales, front end loader, track mobile, hand tools, and all electronic equipment associated. Must have a working knowledge of all appropriate equipment.
  • Set up and dispatch shipments with company drivers
  • Maintain a working understanding of FSMA, FRA, OSHA, & DOT applicable regulations.
  • Supervise drivers and manage the utilization of equipment
  • Accurately complete data entry and reporting.
  • Provide revision input to policies and procedures and continuously improve safety and efficient operations to enhance customer service results.
  • Control the application of Green Plains Inc. safety and environmental policies; measure, detect variances, and take appropriate corrective actions.
  • Perform routine housekeeping duties to maintain a clean/tour-ready work environment at all times.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent degree required
  • Requires a valid driver's license.
  • Minimum of 3 years management experience
  • Minimum 3 years experience in plant logistics preferred.
  • Must be able to meet all requirements to successfully and safely operate machinery and industrial equipment.
  • Must have basic computer knowledge working with Windows, Excel, etc.
  • Must possess good communication skills
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of applicable regulatory requirements of FRA, TTB, FSMA, state and federal regulations

Work Environment/Physical Demands:
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (Hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, heeled boots, and hearing protection).
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job includes but is not limited to: frequent sitting, computer use, telephone use and ability to work independently.
  • Must be able to manage confined space entry, climb ladders and steps, lift up to 60 lbs, and work at heights.
  • While performing this job's duties, the employee is regularly exposed to:
    • mechanical part
    • dusty conditions
    • high noise environment
    • outside weather in all conditions
    • chemicals used in the process
