Radio News Anchor/Reporter

WBAL NewsRadio in Baltimore is looking for a Radio Anchor/Reporter who can authentically deliver news stories with comfort and command. You know how to tell stories through an audio medium and can complete active, engaging live updates. In addition to credibility and personality, you will be an anchor who isn't afraid to head out into the field and break the big stories. You will be a newsroom leader who helps mentor team members. You will write and edit scripts with conversational, concise communication in mind. You are versatile and enterprising, someone who is fast, efficient, works well under broadcast radio deadlines, can develop sources, and has excellent live anchoring skills, particularly during breaking news. The salary range is $50,400 - $59,000. You will report to the Director of Programming/News Director.

Responsibilities

  • Anchor newscasts.
  • Contribute to our digital platforms and have an active presence on social media that engages the audience in a conversation.
  • Deliver scripted and ad-lib material with polish, personality and purpose.
  • Work to gather and edit compelling and captivating sound.
  • Summarize information into easy-to-understand components.
  • Complete each interaction with journalistic integrity and ethical standards.
  • Appear on behalf of the station at public events.

Requirements

  • Professional or college anchoring experience.
  • Your demo reel is indicative of your everyday work.
  • Anchor with the ability to connect with listeners.
  • Write clear, correct, compelling and concise copy.
  • Can deal with the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive newscast production.
  • Have and exhibit unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards.
  • Related military experience will be considered.
  • In-person attendance is required.
